Clip & Eat: A La Carte Buffet at The Mill Cafe, Grand Millennium KL

The Mill Café in Grand Millennium, Kuala Lumpur introduces a brand new a la carte buffet dining concept, Clip & Eat. Available every Sunday to Thursday, this concept aims to minimise food wastage as well as provide diners with a quality dining experience.

Take a walk down the buffet line and see if anything tickles your fancy.  Diners can choose from French, Indian, Chinese or Japanese cuisine and many more. There will be a sample dish to show diners what to expect, and if you like what you see, place a clip with your table number in the basket provided. The food will then be prepared to order and delivered to your table once ready. And that is the beauty of Clip & Eat; having hot, freshly prepared food straight from the kitchen.

In general, the food takes about 10 minutes to arrive once order is placed. While waiting, diners can also help themselves to some of the items on the buffet spread such as the salads, soups and cold seafood (such as prawns and mussels).

We love the Indian corner, led by Indian food specialist Chef Makhan Singh from New Delhi. Chef Makhan pays attention to the finer details to bring out the best in Indian cooking with a focus on core Indian spices.

Everything we tried from this kitchen was well spiced and delicious. Highly recommended are the chicken tandoori, with exceptionally moist, juicy and flavourful chicken leg as well as the butter chicken and lamb rogan josh. Don't forget to order the naan bread, which are warm and soft as they're freshly made. There are also biryani rice, palak paneer, lamb kebab and more.

There is also a corner dedicated to French cuisine, with dishes specially curated by Executive Chef Laurent Lherisson, who hails from a small town of Nice in France.  Diners can enjoy rib eye steak with mushroom and truffle sauce, duck confit on braised red cabbage and apple, seared slipper lobster, beef stew with Dijon mustard, mussel “Mariniere” with french fries and more. My top picks from this corner are the garlic prawn and beef brisket with mash potatoes.

Moving on the buffet line, you will also find Chinese cuisine such as hot and sour Szechuan soup, spicy Szechuan prawn noodle bowl, boiled fish Shui Zhu style and whole fish Szechuan style. There are also Japanese ramen, rice bowls and sushi as well as freshly shucked oysters.

For dessert, there will be local Malaysian kuih, fresh fruits and ice cream on the buffet spread as well as Western desserts such as chocolate lava cake, red velvet and creme brulee, served to order.

  1. We dine in on second day of CNY, poor buffet spread ever with no fresh seafood, not even a single prawn dish or small prawn. Even chef on duty was so ego, I try to seek assistance waving hand to him and he pretend not seeing me. At least he should tell other staff to serve me. Not enough staff and no plates cleaning and I have to take away plates. Totally not value for money. Won't go to this restaurant ever again. Another thing staff at main counter is also very ego and not helpful. She was standing there busy serving for one particular staff in front of us and we waiting there for so long and never bother to give us a hint or smile to wait and when I enquire later why she is doing and just saying "just wait la"
