My name is Yen (better known as Baby Sumo to my readers). Typically Malaysian, I am passionate about both food and photography, and enjoy home cooking and dining out. In my blog, I share my dining experiences, travel adventures as well as my tried and tested recipes and parenting posts occasionally.
I was brought up in Malaysia and later lived and travelled in the UK / Europe for several years before returning to KL. I love both Asian and Western cooking which have been honed in recent years to provide nourishment for my young family. As a mother of two, my greatest joy is to see my family and loved ones enjoy the good food that I prepare. Nothing gives me more pleasure than to hear my little ones compliment me on my cooking/baking. I am also a firm believer that cooking/baking with your kids is a great way of bonding with your children - hence you will also find numerous kids-friendly recipes which you can try with your children.
I also enjoy trying out new restaurants and well-established local gems, and sometimes draw inspiration from fine dining restaurants to recreate a dish at home. I believe that food is like art and takes great pleasure in styling my own cooking/food.
I also share my photographs on the popular app, Instagram and have over 10,500 followers to date. My articles, photos and recipes have also been featured on LifestyleAsia, Great British Chefs, Asian Food Channel Facebook page, CNN Travel and DineMalaysia. I have also appeared on NTV7 Bella Weekend TV Show and New Straits Times, Malaysia's longest running newspaper.
In September 2022, my blog surpassed the 19 million page view mark. My YouTube channel has also garnered over 13.2 millon page views to date. Thank you for helping me achieve this milestone and making this one of the most popular food and travel blogs in Malaysia/KL.
I am also a freelance writer, specializing in dining, travel and entertainment articles, feel free to contact me with any potential work. Please also get in touch for examples of my previously published work.
All photos on this blog are taken with either Canon EOS 100D, 500D, Leica V-Lux 3, iPhone X or iPhone 14 Pro Max.
