Le Pont Boulangerie: Father's Day 2020 Cake + Tea Party Set

It’s Father’s Day this Sunday! Have you got anything planned yet?

Specially for Father's Day 2020, Le Pont Boulangerie et Cafe has created a special Father’s Day cake for the occasion. It comes in a cute design, complete with a bow tie and moustache. As you cut through, you will find layers of moist chocolate sponge cake, with espresso, mascarpone cheese and Belgian chocolate cream. This 4-inch cake is priced at RM35.

You can also get this amazing afternoon tea spread delivered and enjoy it in the comfort of your home. The Tea Party Set is priced at only RM55, and comes with 5 types of pastries (2 pcs each), 2 slices of cake and 2 drinks of your choice. For the pastries, we got the scones (with strawberry jam), Peanut butter banana brownie, Orange curd tart, Chocolate cream puff and Strawberry Shortcake. We especially loved the strawberry shortcake - so light and yummy! Other than that, the set also comes with two slices of cake - I selected the carrot cake and red velvet - great choices I have to say, especially the carrot cake, which was lovely and moist. For drinks, we had the matcha latte and magic coffee.

We set it all out in our two-tier stand as well as fine bone china plates .. loved how pretty the whole set looked, perfect for a celebration!

The set came nicely packed, so everything was still beautiful and intact when it arrived.

Celebrating Father's Day at The Majestic Hotel KL

Happy Father's Day to all daddies out there! I hope you had a fantastic celebration with your family and loved ones.

Hubby's Father's Day began with the kids presenting him with their handmade cards.... kids these days sure are creative. Baby C made a special "pop-up heart" card while Baby D made one with a hidden "pull me" message. :)

Then, we headed to Hubby's favorite hotel in KL, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur, for our Father's Day lunch. Since we're celebrating a special day, we all dressed to the nines. Colonial Cafe was offering a 5-course set menu for the occasion for RM180 nett per person. The ambiance, the service and the food were all top notch, and we certainly had a wonderful time here.

The amuse bouche of Smoked Salmon elegantly presented in a cocktail glass set the right mood for the afternoon. Consider our appetites amused.

Next came our appetizer, Beef Carpaccio with Arugula Salad & Infused Pesto Oil. It was my favorite dish of the afternoon... a well-executed classic featuring thinly sliced raw beef, arugula, balsamic vinegar and shaved Parmesan cheese. Extremely pleasing to the eye and tastebuds. :)

This was followed by the Pigeon Consomme, a clear, light and flavorful soup with poached quail egg and enoki mushrooms. BabySumoKids enjoyed this.

We loved the Coconut Sorbet which arrived next. The creamy, refreshing ice cream was served in a coconut shell, along with cocktail umbrellas... it definitely got BabySumoKids excited.

In-between courses, photos around the hotel

For mains, diners get a choice of Lamb Osso Bucco or Baked Black Garoupa. Osso bucco is usually made with veal shanks, however they have replaced it with lamb here, so this is essentially braised lamb shanks which I love. This is served with soft polenta and sauteed fresh vegetables (the chef kindly changed the kids portion from polenta to mash); the shanks were meaty and tender with a delicious sauce.

I also tried some of Hubby's fish dish, and I especially liked the spicy Asian spices topped on the baked fish. The fish is accompanied by three deep fried potato patties.

Baby C was delighted to see Cheese Cake on the menu as it's her favorite cake. The version here is a blueberry cheese cake topped with diced mango and fresh berries. And to finish off our meal, petit fours and coffee / tea. The staff also kindly printed out a family photo for us as a memento for this special day.
