Another year, another lockdown birthday. However, we still made the most of it and still managed to throw an amazing Minecraft themed birthday party for my boy.
If you're planning to throw a Minecraft party for your kids (works for adults too!), here are some cool, easy ideas on Minecraft party decorations, birthday cake and food!
DJ Dan loves Minecraft (the video game); here are some of the things we made for his birthday party (mostly by Hubby who is the master craftsman in our family):
π Lifesize Minecraft Steve (made from recycled cardboard, coloured paper and some poster colour) π Minecraft cake (designed by the birthday boy, cake toppers by him also) π Diamond helmet for DJ Dan and his penguin soft toy π Minecraft Creeper Pinata (with a DJ touch) π Minecraft tools (sword, pickaxe, axe) π Minecraft chest and treasure hunt π Pixel beef sliders (square buns, square beef patties, cheese, tomato, lettuce)
Happy birthday son!
Not Minecraft related, but this is what birthday boy requested for his birthday dinner. :)

Hi everyone! Chinese New Year is drawing close, which meant that we spent the weekend decorating the house for the festivities.
Since it's the Year of the Rat this year, we made some of these cute rat (or mouse) bookmarks, which also doubles up as bookmarks, using red packets (or angpows). It is best to pick angpows which are red with gold accents as they really make the decoration pop and looks mighty auspicious and "ong"!

Christmas is coming and if you're looking for something to do with your kids during the school holidays, crafts is a fantastic way to spend your time. These penguins are so adorable, you'd want to use them as Christmas decorations around the house.
How to make Penguins Using Toilet Roll
What you'll need: Toilet roll, Scissors, 2 x goggly eyes, Black art paper, White paper, Orange art paper, Craft glue/Double sided tape.
Time required: 10 - 15 minutes.
Instructions:
1. First, cut out a piece of black paper enough to wrap around the toilet roll. Wrap and secure with double-sided tape or glue.
2. Cut out an oval shape on the white paper (width should fit the toilet roll and go up to at least half the toilet roll - approx 5.5cm x 5cm) and stick on to the bottom half of the penguin. This is for its belly.
3. Cut out a circle using the black art paper, measuring 5.5cm in diameter. Snip the edges all the way around for its hair. Stick on the top of the penguin.
4. Cut out two long strips 6cm x 1.5cm using the black art paper, for its flippers. You can make the ends narrower to look more like flippers. Stick on the side of the penguin.
5. Cut out its feet and beak using the orange art paper. Beak is approx 2cm long(diamond shape). Feet should be big enough to stick out at the front. Stick on using glue or double sided tape.
6. Stick on goggly eyes.
Note: You can get craft supplies from either Mr DIY, Daiso, stationary shop or any craft shop.\

Today I have another cute origami craft I would like to share with you - this time, it's a origami dog face- super easy to make and will also make great decorations around the house for this Year of the Dog.
Watch the step-by-step instructions on Youtube, this time featuring the princess. If you enjoyed watching it, do give us a LIKE and also subscribe on our channel. :)
How to Make an Origami Dog Face for Chinese New Year
What you need: 1 square art paper (any colour or size), scissors, black pen/marker
2018 marks the Year of the Dog in the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Every year, we would make some crafts to decorate our house with, so it's a no-brainer to make origami dogs out of angpow packets this year.
For this craft, I would recommend that you use angpow packets made of thicker paper if you would like your dog to be able to stand. You can also use thick art paper but we like using angpow packets as they're usually embossed with gold motifs which exudes a lovely Chinese New Year feel.
Watch the step-by-step video on YouTube, featuring our sifu Baby D. Yup, this young man is the one who taught all of us at home how to fold this origami dog. Happy watching and please click LIKE if you enjoyed watching it. :)
How to Make an Origami Dog for Chinese New Year
What you need: 1 red angpow packet, scissors, black pen/marker.
1. Cut off the overhang on the top, one side and bottom. Open and fold to make a square, and cut off excess (if any).
Or start with a square sheet of paper
2. Fold into a triangle, then fold into half again. Open.
3. Join each edge to the centre. Repeat for all four edges.
You will get this
4. Fold to this position (there will be a line on the paper). Then, fold up at the line.
5. At the other side, fold upwards, this will form the tail.
6. Fold the paper into half.
7. Fold in an upward angle to form the head. (The start point will on the same side as the tail and then goes upward). Repeat for other side.
8. Unfold these two flaps for the legs.
You will end up with this.
9. Using your black marker/pen, draw nose, mouth and eyes. Tip: Bigger eyes will make your dog look cuter.

Our favorite month of the year is finally here! The Christmas Tree has been put up at home and by the first week of December, we make sure that we have sent out our Christmas greetings to our friends and family.
Santa Suit Christmas Cards
For this year's Christmas Card, we chose this cute Santa Claus Suit design. It's simple to make and instantly recognizable. Do watch the "how-to" video on my YouTube channel and I have also included the step-by-step instructions below.
Santa Suit Christmas Cards
What you'll need: Red thick art paper / card A4 size x 20, Black thick art paper / card x 4, Yellow art paper x 1, White paper x 10, Scissors, Retractable blade, Strong glue, Double sided tape, 60 buttons (any colour/size).
Time required: 2 hours to make 20 cards
Instructions:
1. Fold the red paper cards in half.
2. Start by cutting out 40 no. Santa suit collars using the white paper. Find an object with a curve to help you out - they should go from the centre of the red card to about 3cm from the top at an angle.
3. Cut 20 long strips from the white paper, measuring about 15cm x 1.5cm thick.
4. Using the double sticky tape, stick on the long strip and white collar (from Step 2 & 3) onto the red card, as shown below.
5. Next make the Santa belt. Cut 20 strips from the black art card paper measuring 21cm x 1.5cm thick. Then cut out 20 small rectangle from yellow art paper, measuring about 4cm x 3cm. Make two slits at both ends of the rectangle so you can insert the belt through.
6. Ensure that the yellow buckle is in the centre of the card, and stick onto the red card using double sided sticky tape.
7. Stick on the buttons onto the white strip in the centre, spaced as below.
And ta-daaaaaaa... your Santa suit cards are ready for sending out!
