Upon arrival, we were served the Iridium herbal tea, containing cinnamon and ginger to help you relax and get into the mood for relaxation. This is followed by the refined foot bath ritual - a pampering prelude for all spa treatments and package, which uses a mix of lemongrass, ginger and rose petal. Inspired by the St Regis signature Bloody Mary in Langkawi, your feet will be scrubbed with salt and tomato designed to cleanse, unwind and relax, in preparation for the core of your journey.
We were then invited to choose our preferred massage oil, from Recovery (eucalyptus), Serenity (lavender) and Vitality (rosemary). Then, it was 60-minutes of bliss for us as we indulged in the Urut Melayu, a traditional Malay massage relaxes muscles and improves circulation with long, kneading strokes and gentle stretching techniques. special focus on manipulating palm and thumb pressure points promotes health and vitality. It was absolutely amazing!
Your spa journey ends in the Departure Lounge, with hot ginger tea, cookies and dried fruits.
Special thanks to the Recreation Team for looking after our children with lots of fun activities such as treasure hunt, fish feeding, movies and ping pong while us parents luxuriated in Iridium Spa Langkawi.

Kayu Puti Langkawi: Fine Dining Restaurant at The St. Regis Langkawi
It was a night to remember. An exquisite meal, complemented by stellar service and stunning interior, topped with a spectacular sunset at Kayu Puti in The St. Regis Langkawi made this an extra memorable evening for us in Langkawi.
Designed by renowned landscape architect, Bill Bensley, the signature restaurant of the hotel is depicted as a private over-water beach house of an art collector. A specially curated antique collection featuring 139-year old wooden door from Java, windows repurposed from the Dutch Embassy in Yangon and 60 teak columns inlaid with camel bone from India are some of the treasures found in Kayu Puti.
Come early for pre-dinner drinks at the Kayu Puti Bar; grab a spot in one of the oversized hammocks overlooking the Andaman Sea and sip on delicious cocktails as the sun sets in the horizon. This is the BEST place in Langkawi to catch the glorious sunset.
The dining area is absolutely gorgeous, showcasing an eclectic collection of furniture and furnishings such as the extravagant seashell encrusted chandelier and vases. From our table, we also had a good view of the open kitchen and the chefs at work.
The menu features Asian-influenced Haute cuisine and reinterpretations of regional recipes, with a clear focus on locally sourced ingredients and local flavours. We both went for the sensational six-course tasting menu, aptly named The Journey, which takes you through a culinary journey through the different states in Malaysia.
To start, we were presented with the trio of the day which make up the amuse bouche. What a way to awaken our tastebuds, with Traditional kuih loyang with rojak, Beef tartare on lotus chips and Kaffir lime cod fish mousse. A chest filled with two types of bread is served with asam pedas tomato jam and Pamplie butter.
Our culinary journey began at Kuah, the main town of Langkawi Island. Eggplant, sourced from the local market, is showcased in various different textures in the first (vegetarian) dish. On the plate, you will find eggplant puree topped with pomegranate, chickpeas, Kalamata olive and peanuts, as well as eggplant chips and baby pickled eggplant with red curry sauce.
We head to Kaki Bukit in Perlis next, where pomelo from this area is paired beautifully with pan seared Hokkaido scallop, served with a mango chip, coconut gel, peanuts and a homemade red curry sauce.
The land of Cameron Highlands is famous for its freshly grown vegetables. Pumpkin takes the spotlight here, with a roasted pumpkin tortellini served with pumpkin acar, pumpkin seed crisp, pumpkin puree and a light turmeric broth with local herbs.
In the Southern region of Johor, asam pedas is one of the popular, must-try dishes there. The resulting dish is the asam pedas risotto, a beautiful marriage of Italian and Malaysian cuisine. This robust risotto is topped with hot smoked Atlantic cod fillet, confit tomato, a tamarind chilli broth and daun kesum.
We return to Kuah, this time for a meaty delight in the form of charcoal grilled Sher Wagyu tenderloin with a marbling score 9. The Wagyu was beautifully tender, and was complemented with celery root puree, homemade chorizo stuffed solok chili, Langkawi calabasa squash, and mole local spiced sauce. My favourite dish of the evening!
Our journey ends at Ayer Hangat, with a luscious panna cotta dessert made with Langkawi's finest black bee honey from Mr. Radzi's farm. The dessert is accompanied with sour honey gel, vanilla sponge, grapefruit pomelo, orange, Thai basil and lime sorbet. The evening ends with the presentation of the Sweet Trunk, filled with various sweet treats such as teh tarik lollipops, pate de fruit, smoked cekodok stuffed with black bee honey and honeycomb cake.
To our delight, Kayu Puti welcomes families with children too. This means Hubby and I can indulge in a delicious fine dining meal with our children in tow. There is a children's menu or you can order from the a la carte menu. Our kids shared a few dishes from the latter, namely the Stanbroke Wagyu with marbling score 2 as well as the Jivara sphere which they cracked open to reveal golden chocolate brownie bites and more.
It was truly a five-star dining experience, with outstanding cuisine showcasing elevated local flavours and ingredients. A must-visit when you're in Langkawi!
The Journey tasting menu is priced at RM 560 per person (without wine), RM 810 per person (with wine pairing). For more information, please visit www.stregislangkawi.com

These vases were left in the ocean for the corals to attach themselves to it.

Review: The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa
The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa is a five-star family-friendly beachfront resort located on the idyllic Langkawi Island in Malaysia.
Upon arrival at the resort, stunning, picturesque views of the Andaman Sea and the warm sea breeze greeted us. This is the start of a wonderful beach family holiday.. I can feel it in my bones! ;)
The resort boasts 221 guest rooms and suites, luxurious private pool villas and a 5-bedroom private pool villa, all with amazing views of the seascape or tropical gardens. Officially opened in 2006, the resort features a traditional Minangkabau-style clay roof that can be seen miles away from the Andaman Sea, making this one of the iconic landmarks in Langkawi.
Shortly after enjoying our cold coconuts and a light lunch at Breeze Lounge, we were ushered to our room, or should I say suite. We stayed in the gorgeous 2-bedroom Renewal Suite (289 sqm) and the sheer vastness of the suite is enough to impress you. Ideal for a family of four, the suite is plush and luxuriously appointed with two separate bedrooms, a spacious living and dining area, a pantry with a gourmet coffee maker, a reading room/relaxation lounge, two bathrooms, one toilet and a huge private balcony that offers the same gorgeous view of the sparkling Andaman Sea and Langkawi's famous isle's, The Pregnant Maiden and Tuba Island.
All rooms are equipped with the award-winning Heavenly Bed by Westin, with its seven crisp, white layers of bedding, five plush pillows, and an exclusive pillow-top mattress plus extras such as the Lavender Balm to help you wind down naturally and SLEEP WELL.
