Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh, Genting Highlands

The cool weather up in Genting Highlands is perfect for indulging in a bowl of piping hot bak kut teh. You can find Klang's famous Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh up in the highlands, at Genting Permai (near Gohtong Jaya). 

There are various pork cuts to choose from; big bone, knuckle, lean meat, pork belly, small intestine, pig's stomach, big intestine and more. You can also try their famous dry bak kut teh, which is pork knuckle cooked in BKT stock along with dried chillies and dried squid.

Here are some of the dishes we had here: 
Dry bak kut teh (RM35 for small)
Soup Pork ribs (RM20.50)
Soup Pork belly (RM20.50)
Yau char kwai (RM5.50)

Everything tasted great; we thoroughly enjoyed it especially in the cooling weather.

Harry Ramsden Fish & Chips Shop, Genting SkyWorlds

Last month, we took the kids to Genting Highlands during the school holidays. And this is the REAL reason why we (the parents) wanted to go there.. to eat fish and chips lol!

I personally think it’s one of the best fish and chips you can find in Malaysia. The last time, we had it at Harry Ramsden at Sky Avenue, and was pleased to discover that they also have one outlet inside Genting Skyworlds. We stopped here for lunch; simply order at the counter and you will be given a number which will be called once your order is ready.

They have plenty of al fresco seating here; it simply is the best setting for enjoying your fish and chips. Cool crisp highlands air, with your fish and chips, will transport you straight back to Scotland.

Foodwise, the chips portion is a lil small but a huge improvement tastewise; this time, the chips were nice and crisp. Having your food cooked to order sure makes all the difference! They ran out of haddock so we had cod instead and it’s just as good as we remembered it.

Hotel Review: GEO Resort & Hotel, Genting Highlands

If you're planning a trip to Genting Highlands for the upcoming school holidays, check out GEO Resort & Hotel, which is conveniently located in Genting Permai. We recently stayed here in their Family Suite and had an amazing time. 

This posh boutique hotel has a total of 252 elegant rooms and suites, ranging from Superior Room to the Premier Suite, to suit every guest's needs. Our Family Suite was spacious, with a king sized bed (for the parents) and a queen size bunk bed (for the kids). I don't know what it is about bunk beds that get kids excited, but our kids love them so it was a real treat for them to be able to sleep in one during their holidays. Each suite comes with a marble bathroom with a standing shower, 55" SMART LCD TV, coffee machine/tea making facilities,  as well as a balcony to enjoy your morning coffee and the spectacular mountain views. 

Breakfast is served daily at Cabana, the hotel's all day dining restaurant located by the poolside. The breakfast spread was extensive and really good; we especially enjoyed the freshly made roti canai, mee goreng, nasi lemak and pastries. In the evenings, you can opt to have steamboat here too while enjoying the cool crisp air in Genting Highlands. Priced at RM100 per person (min 2 pax), you will get a variety of fresh seafood (fish, squid, mussels, prawns), beef slices, an assortment of balls and tofu, vegetables, yee mee noodle and eggs along with two soup bases (chicken stock and tom yum). 

Take a dip in the heated infinity swimming pool or children's pool or just relax on one of many lounge chairs at the poolside. There is also a well equipped gym on the same level.

The hotel's location is really ideal; it is a short 15-min drive up to SkyAvenue or Genting Skyworlds Theme Park. The Genting Premium Outlet as well as the Awana Skyway is just 3km away, so you can also opt to take a cable car up to the top while enjoying the scenic view.

Review: Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences, Genting Highlands

Genting Highlands is the perfect getaway for those seeking a quick getaway from the city as well as a respite from the heat.

One of the newest hotels in Genting is the Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences, Genting Highlands, ideally located at Genting Permai, a short 8-minute drive away from the Genting Highlands Premium Outlet and Awana Skyway cable car.

The hotel boasts 561 rooms and suites, ranging from Deluxe to 2-bedroom Premier rooms. We stayed in the Deluxe Room which is modern, spacious (362 sq ft) and well-appointed with a king sized bed, desk, coffee/tea making facilities and a standing shower in the bathroom. From our room on the 28th Floor, we had a good view of the Genting Highlands peak.

Breakfast is served daily at The Garden Terrace Cafe, the all-day dining restaurant located on Level 5. The breakfast spread includes the local favourite, nasi lemak, as well as eggs, croissants, noodles and pancakes. The Garden Terrace also offers an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner. Diners can enjoy their meal, with a view of the natural greenery or the landscaped gardens. During our visit, we had the pleasure of attending a Cooking Class and preparing the restaurant's signature lamb curry with the chefs. A fun, interactive session for both parents and kids.

On Level 5, you will also find a landscaped bird cage garden, along with hammock swings, a children's playground and hot spa.

Our favourite spot in the hotel is the rooftop sanctuary on Level 41, featuring a heated swimming pool, lap pool, kids pool, jacuzzi, sauna room, gym and fitness centre and a stunning glass alcove, which is ideal for intimate weddings or events. We could just sit and relax here for hours, enjoying the cool, crisp and fresh air while the children swim to their heart's content in the heated pool.

Swiss-Garden Genting provides a complimentary shuttle to and from Genting Highlands Premium Outlets for hotel guests.
