Restaurant Fishing Village 元魚鄉餐廳, DK Senza, Bandar Sunway

Last weekend, we visited Restaurant Fishing Village 元魚鄉餐廳, a fairly new Chinese Seafood Restaurant in Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya. Located on the first floor of DK Senza, near Taylor’s University, the restaurant is spacious and serves a myriad of delicious Chinese dishes at affordable prices, perfect for a comfortable family meal. This spot is also particularly with the university students as they offer reasonably priced set lunches (RM17.90) daily.

The restaurant specialises in seafood and has various fishes such as sultan fish, catfish, threadfin, tilapia and grouper fish head, as well as tiger prawn, sotong and mantis shrimp.

Here are some of the dishes which we tried during our visit and would highly recommend:

✨ 𝙋𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙜-𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙏𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙥𝙞𝙖 𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝 (RM48)
Sweet, sour and spicy sauce originating from North (co-owners are from Penang) served on deep fried tilapia fish. Very appetising! This is one of their signature dishes, so do give it a try.

✨ 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙚𝙜𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙡𝙠 𝙨𝙤𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙜 (RM32 for medium, RM60 for large)
Our must-order dish! And they do it so well here. Definitely one of the best we’ve had! Super crispy batter with fresh squid ❤️

✨ 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙛𝙞𝙨𝙝 (RM28 for medium, RM48 for large)
Another one of our favorite dishes whenever we eat out at the Chinese restaurant. Thin slices of pork belly cooked with dried chillies and salted fish. Yum!

✨ 𝙏𝙤𝙛𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙝 (RM18 for small, RM28 for large)
Homemade tofu, simple and nice!

✨ 𝘾𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙥𝙤𝙩 𝙒𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙘𝙝 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙬𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚 (RM16 for small, RM28 for large)

Christine's Bakery, Sunway Geo: New Menu 2020

Since its inception in 2017, Christine's Bakery, located in Sunway Geo, has made a name for itself and is now touted as the place to visit for delicious high-quality hand-rolled bagels and pastries. The inviting smell of freshly baked bread greeted us as we stepped inside this cosy bakery-cum-cafe. Rows of pastries and cakes, baked in-house daily, all seem to be calling out my name.

Christine's Bakery

Christine's Bakery is best known for its bagel sandwiches with exciting fillings. They are passionate about what they do, so everything is baked daily using the finest ingredients, and without added preservatives and MSG, to ensure freshness of the product. Earlier this month, they launched a new menu, offering exciting new sandwich fillings as well as more varieties of bread such as homemade croissant and sourdough to pair with the fillings.

Our personal favourite here is the Texas Burger (RM32.80), which we paired with the original hand-rolled bagel. A new addition to the menu, the bagel is lightly toasted and layered with an amazingly juicy burger patty (made from 85% USA Angus cornfed beef and 15% Japanese Wagyu fat), crunchy tempura onion rings, caramelised onion, cheddar cheese, and smoky BBQ aioli. Now, this is what I call a burger! And I can certainly see what the rage about the bagels are all about...absolutely top-notch.

A meat lover's dream, the Wagyu Steak Out (RM36.80) is a must-try! A 100g Wagyu steak, perfectly cooked to medium rare doneness, is complimented beautifully with mozzarella cheese, mustard BBQ sauce, pickled cabbage, caramelised onions, roasted tomato and garden greens. This time, we had it with the sourdough bread, which was excellent too.

So far so good, we're loving the well-thought out fillings for these sandwiches. Next, we also went for the classic bagel filling of salmon and cream cheese-  the Surf (RM25.80). We chose the Sea Salt hand-rolled bagel (other bagel choices include seeded, pumpkin, cheese and walnut) for this sandwich. You get generous amounts of homecured salmon slices, cucumber cream cheese, roasted tomato, capers, red onion and garden greens.

Another new item on the menu is the Truffle Unagi (RM32.80), which we paired with another newbie, the homemade croissant. The croissant was the star here with all the beautiful flaky layers. This is similar to an unagi bowl, but in sandwich form - with truffle-infused Japanese unagi kabayaki, cucumber cream cheese and omelette.

Do leave some room for desserts - there are pastries, tarts, cakes, and more. We highly recommend the signature Portuguese egg tarts (RM3.40), with its crisp buttery crust and creamy custard centre. We also loved the luscious Salted Caramel Mille Crepe (RM13.90) and the Strawberry Tart which reminds us of our summer days in Scotland.

Honolulu Cafe Malaysia, Sunway Pyramid

After a fun day out at Sunway Lagoon, we dropped by Sunway Pyramid for our dinner before heading home. Most of the restaurants were packed for Iftar, so we decided to try Honolulu Cafe.

Honolulu Cafe is actually a brand from Hong Kong, which has been around since 1940. The menu features Hong Kong-style char chan teng food, with signatures such as egg tart, polo buns, Cantonese barbecue and roast meats, as well as a variety of Hong Kong -style fried dishes.

The boy wanted rice, so we browsed the fried rice section and he selected the Fried rice with pork in XO sauce (RM16.80). Turned out to be an excellent choice, one of the best fried rice we've had with plenty of wok hei. The portion size is also good for sharing.

We also ordered the Double roast treasure set with dry tossed noodle (RM18.80). For the meat, we got to choose from Imperial roasted duck, Herbal angelica roasted duck, Crispy roasted pork belly, HK style honey BBQ pork (char siew) and Honey BBQ pork belly (char siew). We went for the Imperial roasted duck (we requested for duck breast) and Crispy roasted pork belly (siew yuk) and we're happy to report that they were both very good. The noodles were nice too, but I think they missed out on the vegetables :P The set also comes with the soup of the day, which was a lovely chicken and corn soup.

What attracted us to try out this place were the display of egg tarts and polo buns at the front of the restaurant. Unfortunately for us, by the time our order was keyed in, they had run out of polo buns :(

Luckily, they still had egg tarts - we tried the Honolulu Signature egg tart (RM2.95 each) as well as the slightly more unusual Honolulu Signature soya bean curd tart (RM2.95). We liked them both; the egg tart had a nice flaky crust with a nice soft custardy filling while the soya bean curd tart is served cold and had a firmer, more biscuity type crust with a silky, smooth filling. Definitely worth trying!

Honolulu Cafe also has an outlet in Mid Valley.

Opening times: 10am to 10pm daily.

Serves pork.

Price: Total bill RM56.55.

Location: Honolulu Cafe, LG2.55, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall No. 3, Jalan PJS 11/15 Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Tel: 012-388 4567
