Ziffy Cafe (Kitchen & Espresso Bar), Sunway Nexis, Kota Damansara

Last weekend, we hopped over to Sunway Nexis in Kota Damansara to check out Ziffy Cafe (also known as Ziffy Kitchen & Espress Bar). Our first impression was that the cafe has a pretty stylish interior, with its marble tops and tiles, hexagonal fittings and sweeping staircase.

The menu features breakfast/brunch dishes, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, desserts as well as Western and Asian mains. The kitchen team sure is capable, and we thoroughly enjoyed the well-executed mains.  Their portions were pretty generous too, so three mains was enough for the four of us to share.

First to arrive was the Salted Egg Heaven (RM25), a massive chunk of fried chicken, slathered in salted egg sauce and sandwiched between a soft burger bun, and served with a side of fries. The fried chicken was moist, juicy and crispy - a delicious burger, with a spicy kick from the cili padi in the sauce.

We wanted to try the ribeye steak but it was unavailable during our visit, so we settled for Taco Up! (RM24), with minced beef, salsa and mozzarella cheese in a taco bowl. The minced beef was flavorful and I especially liked the sweet potato fries that came with this dish. So addictive!

Baby D loves pasta, so we ordered the I See-Food (RM35) which comes with copious amounts of seafood, including tiger prawns, blue mussels, butterfish chunks and grilled calamari, and is tossed with sun-dried and cherry tomatoes, spinach, parsley and extra virgin olive oil. Super tasty, this definitely met with our approval.

For dessert, we shared the Death by Chocolate (RM21), featuring fluffy waffles with chocolate drizzle, chocolate crumble, Kit Kat, fresh fruits and vanilla ice cream. By the speed the kids polished this off, I think it's fair to say they enjoyed this.

For drinks, Hubby had one of their Signature Coffee drinks, Hazel, You're Nuts (RM16), an iced hazelnut latte topped with vanilla ice cream while the rest of us sampled their signature craft drinks, the Cranberry fizz (RM12), Butterfly pea lemonade (RM13) and Longan Mojito (RM14).

KARA - Restaurant & Desserts, Sunway Giza Mall (formerly Conceptual French Cuisine)

KARA, derived from the Latin word beloved, is a casual European French restaurant located in Sunway Giza Mall in Kota Damansara. It is also a space where a team of artistic individuals, including a music producer, lighting designer and interior designer came together to create and conceptualise.(Note: *The restaurant is now known as KARA - Restaurant & Desserts.)

The menu features primarily French dishes, such as chicken liver pate, French onion soup, foie gras and escargots as well as other pork-free European dishes. You will also find a selection of reasonably priced boutique wines from around the world.

To start, we had the Grilled Chicken House Salad (RM26) and Prawn Bisque Soup with Saffron (RM18). The salad was well put together, with tender, flavorful chicken slices. The prawn bisque was pretty light with chunks of prawn, however the consistency could be a little thicker.

Elderflower.

For mains, we shared the Seabass Fillet (RM48), French Chicken (RM42) and Beef Tenderloin with Bearnaise Sauce (RM60). The kids thoroughly enjoyed the beef tenderloin, which was perfectly cooked to medium rare doneness. This was served with steamed vegetables and Russet potato.

I personally enjoyed the French chicken, a saucy dish of breaded chicken cutlet with lemon, butter and garlic sauce. This came with rice pilaf and a mixed salad.

The Seabass fillet was moist, with a lovely, crisp skin and is served with almonds, caper butter and ratatouille.

Leave some room for desserts, you wouldn't want to miss the rich, decadent Chocolate Mousse (RM20) and Creme Brulee (RM18). Guaranteed to satisfy!

They also do an affordable lunch menu, available from Wednesdays to Mondays, priced at RM18++ each and includes coffee or tea. Choose from dishes such as Aglio olio, Chicken parmigana or Beef stroganoff. Diners can also opt for refillable salad for an additional RM7.
