 Merdeka64 may be over, but you can still enjoy the Merdeka Specials from Atlas Gourmet Market, up until 18 September 2021. From local specialties to Western favourites with an Asian twist, there is something to suit every tastebud.

♥ Atlas Deli: Nasi kerabu (rice tinted with blue pea flower, served with ayam goreng berempah, salted egg, cabbage, bunga kantan, daun selom, kacang panjang, sambal kelapa, lime, keropok ikan, budu, sambal belacan) (RM24.90)

One of my favourite Malaysian rice dishes and this was so good, with the juicy, flavorful ayam goreng berempah!

♥ Atlas Pizzeria: Lemak-licious pizza (cili api lemak turkey ham & pumpkin) (RM38)

Great pizza with a Malaysian twist. Thin, crispy base and generous amount of topping including turkey ham, prawns and brinjal. 

♥ Atlas Pizzeria: Flaming kerabu squid spaghetti (RM25)

Generous amount of squid, great tangy flavours. 

♥ Atlas Bistro: Filet de Bouef ala Japonaise (Japanese red miso pan roasted beef fillet, potato terrine, broccolini and porcini jus) (RM64)

Beautifully cooked to medium rare perfection. So tender and complemented well by the porcini jus.

This Merdeka, Executive Chef Gerald of Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown curates Merdeka Flavours – hearty Malaysian meals to be enjoyed with your loved ones. 

Celebrate Malaysia’s 64th Independence Day from the comfort of your home with Malaysia's most iconic dish - the Nasi Lemak, paired with kampung favorites such as Roasted Cincalok Chicken or Rendang Tok Beef Short Ribs. 

The Nasi Lemak Bunga Telang with Roasted Cincalok Chicken is available for 2 persons at RM58 and 4 persons at RM98 while the Nasi Lemak Bunga Telang paired with Rendang Tok Beef Short Ribs is priced at RM78 for 2 persons and RM138 for 4 persons. 

The roast chicken was juicy and tender, so yum!

I love nasi lemak and this one definitely hit all the right spots - fluffy, fragrant rice, kickass sambal, crunchy ikan bilis and peanuts. Absolutely delicious! And love the beautiful blue hue on the rice (colored with blue pea flower).

Complete your meal with Pastry Chef Chua’s homemade Black Glutinous Rice & Coconut Tart at RM28 for 2 pieces or RM56 for 4 pieces.

Novotel KL Distributes Jalur Gemilang with PDRM for Hari Merdeka

The management team of Novotel Hotel Kuala Lumpur recently organized a Malaysian flag-giving event at the hotel to celebrate the country’s 61st Independence Day.

Jointly organized with Polis Diraja Malaysia and New Life Community Society (Old Klang Road), the event saw a crowd of about 60 participants including the hotel management associates. The event flagged off with a short safety briefing at around 10am where participants gathered at the hotel driveway before splitting into two groups. The first group distributed flags at the hotel entrance along Jalan Kia Peng, while the second at the Bukit Bintang area. Hotel guests joined in the fun of receiving a free flag and posed for a photo with the police and hotel management team.

With road traffic control assistance from police officers, led by ASP Riduwan bin Rahim (head of MPV unit at Dang Wangi) the participants were able to hand out about 500 flags in under 30 minutes, with Pastor Michel, Chairman of New Life Community Society and Kingdom Transformation Sanctuary, as well as Novotel Kuala Lumpur Hotel General Manager, Susan Anthony, personally handing out flags to motorists.

“We are very happy with today’s event and grateful for the help from members of the police force, most notably ASP Riduwan, for joining us and helping stop vehicles for us to distribute the flags and ensuring the safety of those who participated,” Pastor Michel said.

“The sense of pride and patriotism in this year’s Merdeka Day is greater and more significant than before. We are all very excited to celebrate a new Malaysia,” said Ms Susan Anthony.

The historic day on May 9 marks the birth of a new Malaysia, a defining moment in Malaysia’s history since gaining independence from Britain in 1957 61 years ago.

The event ended at around 10:45am with lunch and beverage served in Qing Zhen Chinese Restaurant on Level 1 of the hotel for the participants and police officers.
