Sunday Sky Brunch at Sabayon, EQ Kuala Lumpur

 Elevate your weekend with the Sunday Sky Brunch at Sabayon, the award-winning fine dining restaurant in EQ Kuala Lumpur. Located on the 51st floor of the hotel, immerse yourself in a luxe lunch complemented by spectacular panoramic views of the city and stellar service. 

Sabayon, usually an adult-only dining establishment, welcomes young children on Sundays, offering a 2-course menu for them, taking into account their appetites and preferences. For the adults, a 4-course meal consisting of an entrée, starter, main course and dessert awaits.

Start your meal on a high note with entrée options such as Tuna crudo, Eggplant & rock melon, or Hokkaido oyster in panko crumbs, served with pea custard and yuzu gel and salmon roe. Apart from the Hokkaido oyster, we tried everything on the menu and was delighted with the overall quality of the menu. 

We absolutely loved the Tuna crudo, nori and sesame crusted tuna topped with ikura (salmon roe) and sesame vinagrette served with with a pea crisp. Hubby was equally impressed with the Eggplant & Melon, which showcased different textures and flavours. 

Starter options include Butternut risotto, Veal tartare, or Seared Hokkaido scallops with roasted cauliflower puree. The pumpkin risotto was perfectly al dente, served with batons of sweet miso glazed squash. The veal tartare, sandwiched between compressed apples was served with apple foam and caramelised onions. I had the Hokkaido scallops, lightly seared and served with cauliflower puree, shaved cauliflower and tonburi. 

For the main course, diners can choose between chicken, beef or salmon trout. The Corn-fed chicken terrine with black truffle was a pleasant surprise, and we were happy that we did not give this a miss. Tender chicken with crisp skin, a delicious sauce au supreme and black truffles to further elevate the dish. 

The braised beef brisket was fork tender,  and comes with silky smooth pomme puree and a noisette lemon emulsion.  The salmon trout was pan seared to perfection,  served with beurre blanc, asparagus, and avruga caviar... this is truly simplicity at its best.

End your meal with a selection of cake and pastries, or a cheese platter featuring a selection of imported cheese, honeycomb, and other accompaniments. 

At the end of the meal, the wait staff presented us with a framed family photo as a memento of our wonderful dining experience here at Sabayon. One of the best Sundays we have spent together this year for sure.

For the two-course child brunch, young guests can choose from tomato soup or French toast as a starter, as well as steak hache with mashed potatoes and onion gravy, creamy linguine pasta, or fish and chips with mushy peas and house-made tartare sauce as the main. Dessert is a choice between strawberry parfait, chocolate tart with vanilla gelato, or a sorbet duo.

The 4-course adult brunch is priced at RM189+ and the 2-course child brunch is priced at RM68+. 
Sunday Sky Brunch is available only on Sundays, from 12pm to 3pm. Reservations are highly recommended, and can be made via the EQ F&B reservations WhatsApp at +6012-278 9239.

Penang Sportswear Brand Promotes Malaysians’ Active Lifestyles on Shopee Live

Earlier this year, Elgini Apparel Sdn Bhd (Elgini), a Penang-based sportswear brand, acquired a 30,000 square foot factory in Nibong Tebal to meet the growing demand for their affordable and high-quality sportswear. Elgini credited the strategic shift to online, with a particular emphasis on live streaming, as one of the key factors for their growing popularity in the local market.

Joining Shopee in November 2020, Elgini immediately started participating actively on the Shopee Live platform after recognising its potential to help sellers grow their online reach, build communities, and better engage with users in real-time. Elgini utilises the platform's tools and features, such as Shopee Coins, Shopee Live Games, and Live-exclusive Vouchers, to increase sales revenue, buyer engagement, and the number of followers.

One of Elgini's proudest achievements is their high rate of customer satisfaction, leading to a significant number of repeat buyers, and they boast 310 thousand followers with 4.9 star ratings from almost 500 thousand reviewers on Shopee.

In September, Elgini observed that their live streaming on Shopee contributed to almost half of their total sales. During the recent 10.10 campaign, their Shopee Live sales increased by 1.9 times compared to regular days, and they achieved a peak viewership that was 3.7 times higher than usual. Their primary target audience consists of Malay buyers, and Shopee Live serves as a direct link to this demographic.

During their live sessions, hosts wearing Elgini attire drive sales by interacting with customers in real-time and providing product education. They showcase a range of clothing items, including windbreakers, yoga pants, and best-selling tracksuits (more than 700 thousand sold), emphasising features that cater to the preferences of Malaysians, such as cooling, stretchy materials, and modest styles. These products are popular with Malaysians of all backgrounds, ages, and sizes, popular among riders and outdoor enthusiasts who engage in sports, hiking, jogging, aerobics, gym workouts, travel, or leisure at home.

These sessions run for two to three hours each throughout the day, with sellers going live for up to 14 hours daily to maximise reach. From their observation, their live stream sessions perform exceptionally well, particularly when they pin their stream at the top of the Shopee Live page and at night. Regular live streams also allow Elgini to forge deeper bonds with users, leading to the building of strong online communities and loyal customer bases.
