Since it's the Year of the Rat this year, we made some of these cute rat (or mouse) bookmarks, which also doubles up as bookmarks, using red packets (or angpows). It is best to pick angpows which are red with gold accents as they really make the decoration pop and looks mighty auspicious and "ong"!

Year of the Rat CNY Crafts

All you need:
Angpow packet (preferably red with gold accents)
Pink paper
Scissors
Glue
Pencil
5 cent coin
Black marker
Instructions:
1. Cut out a square from the ang pow packet.
2. Fold as per video instructions: click here.
3. Use coin as guide and draw two circles on the leftover angpow packet. Cut out circles.
4. Use coin as guide and draw two circles on pink paper. Cut about 2mm inside the circle drawn.
5. To make ears, stick the pink circle on the red circle.
6. Use glue to stick ears onto the rat's body.
7. Use marker to draw on eyes, nose and whiskers.
8. Cut out a tail from the red packet and stick onto the back of the rat.
