CNY 2020: EQ

Celebrating the Year of the Rat's spirit of progression and new beginnings, Kuala Lumpur's newest 5-star hotel, EQ, invites guests to enjoy sumptuous festive gastronomy experiences throughout January and February with vibrant decorations and roars of laughter.

Chinese New Year Pop-Up
Chinese New Year is the most anticipated festival of the Chinese calendar, a time for reconnecting with fiends and family and sharing precious time together over auspicious dishes. Having had more than 25 years of success running Hotel Equatorial Kuala Lumpur's signature Chinese restaurant, the Golden Phoenix, EQ will be setting up their banquet halls as a Chinese restaurant and featuring over 20 new dishes from 13 January until 20 February 2020.

There are four set menus to choose from - Celestial Rat (RM2,388), Longevity Rat (RM2,588), Prosperity Rat (RM2,788) and the exclusive Golden Phoenix-inspired menu (RM5,838) per table of 10 persons, all specially curated by Executive Sous Chef Tan Tzaan Ling and his team. Chef Tan pays homage to Golden Phoenix's popular dishes while embracing modern taste buds with his recreations for the exclusive menu. This menu features dishes such as the Golden Phoenix Classic Tasmanian Salmon and Tropical Caviar Yee Sang, Wok-Fried Boston Lobster with Kaffir Lime Leaf Mayo and Golden Garlic as well as the classic favourite from the 1970s, Loh Mai Chi with Fried Nian Gao.

Prosperity Lunch and Dinner Buffet at Nipah
From 10 January until 8 February 2020, guests can indulge in an extensive range of buffet spread with home-style flavours at Nipah. Highlights include classic Chinese dishes such as Braised dried seafood with enoki mushroom in crabmeat broth, Fish maw with mushrooms, sea moss and vegetables, Double-boiled chicken soup, Wok-fried clams with garlic and dried shrimp as well as delectable pastry selections such as Mandarin orange mousse, Pineapple tarts, Firecracker sweet rolls and Assorted Chinese cookies.

Lunch is priced at RM88 per adult and RM108 for dinner while Sunday Brunch is RM108 on Sundays and on public holidays, with an added barbeque buffet selection in the outdoor grill patio. Children aged 6 to 12 dine at 50%

Auspicious Yee Sang will be available as a separate order with small and large platter sizes available that can serve from 5 to 10 guests. The Vegetarian option starts at RM98 while the Salmon & Jellyfish Yee Sang starts at RM118 for small. Fortune cookies will be provided on a complimentary basis.


Drinks of Fortune
Year of the Rat inspired cocktails will be served at Bottega Lounge from 13 January until 29 February 2020. This include the Blood Orange Prosecco, Jade Martini, Mela Sour Margarita and Grapefruit Fizz (priced RM24 to RM52 nett).

At Blue, the highest bespoke speakeasy bar and lounge in Kuala Lumpur, selected drinks are available from RM20 nett for the Lunar Sunset Hours promotion from 13-31 January 2020 from 5pm to 7pm. Choose from draught beer, house pours, and wines by the glass while taking in the unparalleled sunset views.




Chinese New Year Lion Dance Performances
There will be Lion Dance performances on the second day of CNY (26 January 2020 12pm) and on Chap Goh Mei (8 February 20206.30pm) at EQ Lobby.
