Fashioned after a Bavarian beer garden, the Midvalley outlet is casual and definitely family-friendly when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. We were here to check out their Breakfast & Brunch menu (available on Sundays and Public Holidays from 11am until 3pm) as well as favourites from their a la carte and dinner menus.
On the Breakfast & Brunch Menu, you will find big breakfast (served with real pork bacon!), roasted pork, pretzel sandwich as well as waffles. All breakfast/brunch menu items are served with a cup of brewed coffee, tea or ice lemon tea.
We sampled both the savoury Waffle & Nurnberger Sausages (RM29) and the sweet Waffle & Apple Stack (RM24). The Belgian waffles were well-made - light and fluffy, and both pairings were fantastic. Chloe loved the sweet version, which comes with crispy apple fritters, maple syrup and cherries while Daniel was all for the Nurnberger sausages, boiled ham and bacon. The sausages served in the restaurant are all imported from Germany to keep it authentic. A super satisfying brunch dish.
Breakfast & Brunch Menu
Wash your meal down with a cold glass of beer, or like Hubby did, four! He went for the Paulaner Bier Sampler (RM33) which comes with Munchner (lager), Hefe-Weissbier (unfiltered wheat bier), Hefe-Weiss Dunkel (unfiltered dark wheat beer) and Munchner Ur-Dunkel (dark lager) - the perfect way to enjoy the four types of draft beers on offer here. They also offer bier mixes here - I had the Radler (RM15 for 0.3lit), which is the original Munchner lager mixed with lemonade - a lovely thirst quencher indeed!
Mocktails for the kids - Virgin Mojito and Seabreeze
To go with the beer, the Grazing Platter (RM48) is a great accompaniment, featuring spicy chicken wings, breaded fresh mushrooms, pork meatballs, chicken fingers, bacon skewers and wedges with tartare sauce.
There is also a Dinner Specials menu, which is available daily from 6pm. We had the pork fillets on rosti (RM33), which comes with a delicious black peppercorn cream sauce. The rosti (Swiss shredded potato) is thin and crispy, topped with bacon.
The Schweinekrustenbraten aka Crispy pork belly dish (RM43) from the a la carte menu showcases everything I love about German cuisine. Beautifully tender pork belly with crispy crackling (oh how I love the sound of that crackle!) served on a bed of red cabbage, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and knuckle gravy. Pure perfection!
If you still have space, order the Bavarian pork ribs which comes in full, half or quarter portions. We wanted a taster, so a quarter portion (RM45 was just nice for us. It comes in three different flavours - traditional beer infused, smokey or honey - we had the latter, and the meat was just falling off the bone. So good!
With every adult mains ordered, kids eat for FREE (valid for kids below 8 years old). We were told that the little boys' favorite is the Benno's, pork patty with tomato and gratinated cheese and comes with fries. Daniel gave this a thumbs up (and he finished it all too!). There is also spaghetti in tomato sauce, pizza, chicken / pork sausages, pork meatballs and spatzle on the kids menu.
Spatzle and cheese (German egg noodles)
For dessert, we rounded up our meal nicely with an apfelstrudel (RM24), spiced apple filling wrapped with a flaky crust and served with vanilla ice cream.
I need to come back here with a larger group next time and try their signature crispy pork knuckle!
