Creating Fun, Nutritious & Delicious Food with MARIGOLD

As a parent of two children aged 5 and 7, I am constantly on the lookout for new learning experiences for our children. Children take great pride in their achievements and as parents, we should give them every opportunity to learn new skills and experience new things. One area where we genuinely see growth in our children is their passion in the kitchen.

From around the age of 2, we started them off with mashing bananas or beating eggs during cake baking sessions and have gradually introduced new steps for them to undertake as their motor skills improved. Now that they are both in school we let them weigh out ingredients as per the recipe, which is great for confidence and a good tool for parents to ascertain their child's ability to follow instructions. It is also a simple lesson in mathematics and reading.

If you plan simple recipes and get the children involved they will quickly learn to have fun in the kitchen while learning new skills and hopefully creating delicious food.

If you are not already having fun kitchen sessions with your child / children, maybe the following simple activity could be a good chance for you to entice your young ones into the kitchen and get them assisting you in preparing their breakfast or an after-school snack.

Cooking or even nutritious food preparation that requires no cooking can be a fun activity for both parents and children alike which, if planned properly, will give you some valuable bonding time with your children and at the same time empower them with basic life skills which they can build upon and carry with them into adulthood.

BabySumoKids drink milk daily; the benefits from drinking milk as a child are well-documented, such as strong bone growth and teeth formation. We love drinking MARIGOLD UHT Milk as it is enriched with calcium, protein, as well as its unique BonePlus formulation of Vitamin D which aids in better calcium absorption and bone growth.

It comes in convenient 1 litre and 250ml Tetra-Pak packs, so both adults and children can drink it anytime, anywhere, chilled or non-chilled. It comes in 4 different flavours; full cream, chocolate, strawberry and low fat.

Other than just drinking milk, there are many ways of incorporating milk into your child's diet. MARIGOLD have come up with a newly improved UHT Chocolate flavoured milk and we were keen to combine the rich chocolate flavour with bananas, strawberries and nuts to create an overnight oats breakfast for our children to prepare and enjoy.

This easy recipe involves simple task such as measuring, pouring and slicing which your children can competently carry out.

To make overnight oats, simply fill a mason jar with 1/2 cup of rolled oats, and pour 1 pack of 250ml MARIGOLD UHT chocolate flavoured milk into the jar.

Slice your bananas

And top your overnight oats with your favorite fruits and nuts - BabySumoKids added raisins, walnuts, sliced strawberries and bananas to their overnight oats. Put on the lid, and leave it overnight in the fridge and enjoy for breakfast the following day!

Cooking with your kids is fun and great for family bonding too

Healthy, delicious breakfast in a jiffy
