This festive season, Colonial Cafe will be offering three different menus; a Christmas Eve Dinner Menu (RM280 nett per person), Christmas Day Menu (RM220 nett person) as well as a New Year's Eve Dinner Menu (RM350 nett per person). The full menu can be viewed here. We sampled a selection of dishes from both the Christmas Eve and Day Menu.
Amuse bouche - Chicken liver crostini
For starter, we had the Wood Smoke Infused Blue Mussel, Scallop and Salmon, from the Christmas Eve Dinner Menu. This was one of my favorite dishes of the evening - beautifully plated with fresh, delicious seafood. The seafood was served with avocado puree, micro cress and creamy honey mustard dressing.
Scallops and mussel were plump and yummy.
Cock-a-leekie is a typical Scottish chicken and leek soup, and is often called "Scotland's National Soup". It is thickened slightly with the use of barley. This is from the Christmas Day menu.
For mains, I chose the Trio's King which consists of turkey breast, sausage in a blanket and herbs stuffing, served with creamy mash, minted mushy peas, and red wine gravy. I was impressed with the turkey, which was nice and moist. This is from the Christmas Eve Dinner Menu.
Hubby had the Baked Salmon with Lemon and Dill Sauce, accompanied with seasonal vegetables and Dauphinoise potatoes. This is from the Christmas Day Menu.
There is no better way to end a Christmas meal than with the traditional Christmas pudding. Moist and sweet, it was served with vanilla sauce and white chocolate ice cream. This is from the Christmas Day menu.
After dessert, you will also be served petit fours of cookies and chocolates as well as freshly brewed coffee or tea.
