Musical Review: Saturday Night Fever in KL!

The day has arrived! The Bee Gees Smash Hit musical "Saturday Night Fever" has finally arrived on Malaysian shores. From 4th to 13th September 2015, you can catch this hit musical at Istana Budaya Kuala Lumpur.

We were excited to attend its maiden show tonight, and what a spectacular one it was! The songs, the dance moves, the choreography, the cast... they were all A-MA-ZING ;) The dancers were really energetic and there was lots of humor injected in the first act of the musical.

"You should be dancing YEAH!"

Premiered in the West End at the London Palladium in 1998 and Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre in 1999, the spectacular musical Saturday Night Fever has been seen by over 10 million people with over 2,800 shows in more than 20 countries across the globe including Italy, Argentina, Japan, Australia, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, South Africa, Czech Republic and Finland.

The musical will be headlined by hugely talented casts and musicians who will be performing a repertoire of Bee Gees’ cult classics such as “Stayin’ Alive”, “Night Fever”, “More Than A Woman”, “Tragedy”, “Disco Inferno”, “How Deep is Your Love”, and “You Should Be Dancing”.

Saturday Night Fever tells the story of Italian-American Tony Manero and his gang in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn who are stuck in dead-end jobs but rule the dance floor at the discotheque 2001 Odyssey. Tony is a tough cookie; an outstanding dancer and his ultimate dream was to escape the mean streets of Brooklyn.

Every Saturday night, Tony dons his flares and struts his stuff; capturing all eyes through his stylish moves on the dance floor. He has only one ambition in life - to become the disco king. When he meets Stephanie, who also dreams of a world beyond Brooklyn, they decide to train together for a dance competition and their lives begin to change forever.

  1. Sobssssss!!!! My cousin in KL won TWO VIP tickets, worth over RM800 and she's going! Same Saturday matinee show, 3 p.m. Not good for me, the timing as I would not be able to fly back to send my girl back to her jungle school, Sunday. Friday would have been good...or any weekday.

Hmmmmmm....that Tony, too muscular, bulging all over. *sour grapes mode* Hehehehehehe!!!!!

    1. Hey! Heard from smallkucing that they brought the show forward to Friday night! Tsk! Tsk! I could have made it...and come back in time. :( And there were so many empty seats at the show - aiyor...what a waste! All the musicals I've been to in the UK or Singapore, all packed houses...never mind how long the musical had been running.
