Kogetsu, which means "reflection of the moon on the water" is designed in the style of a traditional Japanese ryokan. Built on stilts, it offers a tranquil view of the lake and surrounding gardens. The restaurant has a separate teppanyaki room, sushi counter and three tatami rooms for private dining.
Always a pleasure to see (and eat) sashimi at a Japanese restaurant. This is the medium sashimi moriawase (RM76) (刺身盛合わせ (ハーフ)which came with 5 types of fish (2 pieces each). Impressed with the thick, generous portions.
I'm not much of a sushi or maki person, but this Unagi Shake Kawa Maki (RM53) ( 鰻 鮭皮巻き) was really good. The filling in the maki roll is eel and crispy salmon skin.
We had several types of tempura, including the Asparagus Kisu no Bainiku Age (RM38) アスパラと鱚 梅肉揚- asparagus and silver fish in batter, as well as soft shell crab tempura (RM48) and ohba tempura (RM32). My favorite is the ohba tempura, as the batter was light and very crispy.
For the kids, we ordered a couple of their favorite dishes such as soupy udon and cod fish. The waitress recommended the Tempura Udon Matawa Soba (RM46) 天婦羅うどん 又は 蕎麦- we asked for them to separate out the tempura prawns, as the kids like them crispy.
Top marks for the Gindara Teriyaki (RM72) 銀鱈塩焼 又は 照り焼. The cod fish was beautifully flaky and so meaty! Yummy in our tummy ;) You can also opt to have it grilled with salt (shio).
Scallops and mentaiko.. now that's a combination I would love! The scallop is topped with spicy fish roe and then baked. This is one of the new menu items at Kogetsu.
Nice and simple, even the kids enjoyed this stewed asari clams.

Son would love Udon too. Not only kids likes the prawns to be crispy. Adults would too :)
