What is glamping?
Glamping is defined as glamorous camping - a combination of simple luxuries of everyday life and camping, allowing you to camp in style and comfort while experiencing the great outdoors.
Lost World of Tambun have recently launched their 5-billion star glamping experience set amidst 400 million year old limestone rock outcrops and BabySumoFamily was there to experience it during the recent school holidays.
1. Glamorous camping, a fun experience for the whole family.
Glamping is a great way of introducing kids to the world of camping. Upon arrival, head over to the Main Reception area, and you will be transported in a buggy, along with your luggage to the camping site located at the Lost World Adventure Park.
No tent pitching is required - absolutely fuss-free! The staff will even help you carry your luggage to your tent.
In case you're wondering about how safe glamping here is - it is very SAFE! All tents come with a padlock, so everytime you leave your tent, just lock up. Additionally, there is a lockable drawer within the furniture provided in the tent. There are also staff on site 24 hours, to assist you in any matters and also to act as additional security for glamping guests.
The tent is spacious, with 1 king-sized bed and 2 single beds; it accommodates our family of four comfortably. There are two stand-fans in the tent; in the mornings and evenings, it is surprisingly cooling, though it can get hot in the afternoon (but you will most probably be out exploring/splashing around in the waterpark at this time). There was a considerable downpour during our stay, we are glad to report that the tent was capable of keeping us dry and sheltered from the elements.
We had a good night's sleep.
There is lighting and also electrical sockets for you to charge your devices. There is no kettle in the tent, however they provide free coffee and a kettle down at the reception area for glamping guests. Complimentary bottled water is also provided in the tents.
You will also find basic toiletries such as shower gel and shampoo, as well as towels in the tent. There are modern, clean toilets and shower rooms just a very short walk away from the tents (by the Adventure Park reception area). In the shower room, you can enjoy a warm shower after a thrilling day in the Lost World of Tambun. There is also a hair dryer in the girl's shower room.
To complete the whole glamping experience, we opted to have BBQ on one of the evenings. In true glamping style, the staff will help you set up and ignite the BBQ, ready for use and leave you to enjoy your dinner at leisure.
There were two packs of fish fillet, lamb skewers, prawns, sausages, chicken wings, salad, sweet potato and fried rice - all these for RM100. The chicken and fish which requires a longer cooking time were pre-cooked, so it saved time for us.
BabySumoKids enjoyed toasting marshmallows over the open flame.. ;)
After dinner, it rained, so we stayed in our tent and played card games
In the morning, buggy service is available to send you to Garden Terrace for your buffet breakfast (included in price). Buggy service is also available during check-out.
2. The view and natural surroundings
The glamping site is set amidst 400 million year old limestone rock outcrops and lush greenery. Absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking! Everytime we stepped out of the tent, we couldn't stop but marvel at the natural beauty surrounding us.
Just outside our tent stands the majestic Needle of Tambun here - it is also known as "Pencil Rock". It is a unique 80m high limestone pinnacle that miraculously preserved while the surrounding limestone dissolved several thousands of years ago.
Imagine waking up to this view in the morning.
And this is by far the best view to brush your teeth to!
In the evenings, you may walk down to the natural hot springs within the Theme Park for a dip.
At night, you will hear sounds of crickets and if you're lucky and the skies are clear, you will get to sleep under the stars.
There is also a lake within the Adventure Park, where you can go kayaking or for a boat cruise during the day. You can also zip line over a 120m long cable over the lake.
Do remember to bring a mosquito repellent as there will be insects and mosquitoes - after all you are amidst nature!
3. Good value for money
So how much does the glamping experience at Lost World of Tambun cost?
For 4 pax (2 adults and 2 children), it costs RM588. For this price, you get a tent with beds and the facilities for 2 days 1 night, buffet breakfast for 4 at Garden Terrace as well as Theme Park Entrance for 4 persons for 2 days (worth RM452).
For 2 pax (2 adults), the cost is RM438 with an option to add-on for 3rd person (child RM105, adult RM120).
Our family had so much fun - the whole experience surpassed our expectations and more. A wonderfully memorable experience for our family, especially for our kids, who have recently expressed an interest in camping. Kudos to the helpful, professional staff for also making our stay very comfortable. We can't wait to go back again!

Currently, there are only 5 tents available for the glamping experience so reservation is essential. They are in the midst of setting up more tents to accommodate more guests in the near future.
