On the first day of Ramadan, we were invited to Hotel Stripes KL's first ever Festive Celebration, held in The Snug on Level 2 of the hotel. The Festival Celebration buffet spread will be held daily from 27 May to 23 June 2017, from 7pm to 10pm and is priced at RM80 nett per person.
The festive spread will feature various traditional Malay cuisine, as well as specialties from their neighbourhood friends in the Kamunting neighborhood which dates back over two decades. Some of the specialties include Capitol Cafe's beef rendang, assam pedas, and gulai ayam, Abu's pasembor and mee rebus, MMZ's sup kambing, sup ayam and murtabak kambing, and Cowboy's mee mamak.
Tender, chunky beef rendang
Love the tangy assam pedas fish..makes me wanna drink all that gravy!
The sup ayam is another favorite of mine... flavorful and well-spiced :)
Other Malay dishes you will find on the buffet spread are ulam-ulaman, satay, lemang, rojak buah, paru goreng berlada, udang galah masak sambal petai (freshwater prawn with stink bean), pahjeri nenas berempah, roasted lamb, whole roasted fish, nasi biryani with lamb chops and puyuh goreng (fried quail). The spread here may not be huge, but they're all well-executed and tasty.
This Udang galah dish is da bomb!
For desserts, not to be missed is the thin, crispy appam balik. Instead of the regular peanut and creamed corn filling, the version at Stripes will include Nestum and creamed corn. Eat it on its own, or with some vanilla ice cream. ;)
There will also be ais kacang, local kuihs, fresh tropical fruits, Western pastries and ice cream.

At the rate they charge in Trengganu, just eat 6-7 of those and you would get your money's worth already. :D
