Italian Brunch @ Villa Danieli, Sheraton Imperial KL

We fell in love with Italian Head Chef Gaetano di Stefano's cooking after trying the white asparagus promotion at Villa Danieli, Sheraton Imperial KL. So, on Sunday, we returned to check out the Italian Prosecco Brunch, happening every Sunday from 11am to 3pm. Diners can choose from these 3 options:  food only (RM148 nett per person, RM74 nett kids ( 9-12 years old)), with free-flow red, white wine, beer, soft drinks, chilled juices, coffee & tea (RM198 nett per person) or with free-flow Prosecco and other beverages listed previously (RM 238 nett per person).



The Italian Brunch will feature a buffet spread, offering a wide selection of antipasti and cheese as well as a la carte dishes, and desserts, cooked to order. Start with the salad and antipasto bar, which showcases chef's creation such as beef carpaccio, caprese salad, Mediterranean prawn, seared tuna, smoked salmon and roasted vegetables. There will also be seafood on ice such as flower crabs, mussels, prawns and fresh oysters.








From the a la carte menu, you can choose several other appetizers, mains and desserts. These will be cooked to order, which was fantastic as it ensured that the dishes arrived at our table hot and tasting its best.

From the appetizers, there were Pan fried foie gras, caramelised apple, onion and balsamic vinaigrette, Honey pumpkin and gorgonzola soup, and Mini calzone with spinach, chicken, hard boiled egg, and ricotta cheese. Our favorite was the foie gras, which was beautifully done. The best thing is you can order this as many times as you like.




There were over 10 items to choose from for mains, including fish (salmon and cod), meat (beef and lamb), pasta, pizzas and seafood. These will be served in small portions, so it is best to order 2-3 items at one time, as there will be a short waiting time as each dish is freshly prepared when the orders are put through.

The Forest Mushroom Risotto with Parmesan Shaving and Truffle Oil was delicious! We liked this much more than the white asparagus version as this is more flavorful and creamy. We also had the Sauteed Fresh Clam and Mussel with Garlic, Parsley and Saffron Jus which was nice and light.






Pan Fried Cod Fish with Fennel and Passion Fruit - See what I mean by the small portions :P We reordered these a few times as our kids enjoyed this. The fish was beautifully cooked with a lovely, crisp skin.





Beef Fillet Mignon with Parmesan Crust, Asparagus and Green Beans - nicely cooked to medium rare doneness. The Parmesan crust was actually pretty nice.




Gratinated Australian Grain Fed Lamb Rack with Mediterranean Vegetables and Thyme Natural Jus - the highlight of our meal, the lamb was excellent. Cooked to medium doneness, as requested. Look at that beautiful pink centre ;)





For desserts, you can try the selection of mini desserts, such as Puff pastry with strawberry and cream, Chocolate pear tart, Vanilla mille feuille with passion coulis, Lemon tart and white chocolate and raspberry cheese cake in cornet. All these will be served in a single platter.




Other desserts include gelato (asparagus, orange, yoghurt, chocolate, vanilla and strawberry), panettone with braised red plum, tiramisu and three chocolate semifreddo. We tried the gelato (nice and smooth), tiramisu (for Baby C, as she enjoyed it the last time we had it here) as well as the semifreddo (rich, chocolatey - absolutely sinful!). If a sweet ending is not your thing, these are also a variety of cheeses to choose from, along with fresh and dried fruits, and nuts to go along with it.

  1. I'm loving Italian! Look at those delicious cuisines! Give me that Beef Fillet Mignon! :D And the desserts are looking great!
