Curry laksa @ Restoran Sweetland, Cheras, KL

We recently discovered yet another hidden gem for curry laksa in Cheras, thanks to an article that I saw in Malay Mail Online. Although we have visited Restoran Sweetland a couple of times, we never knew of the existence of a good curry laksa here.

Once you arrive at this kopitiam, head over the to the left hand side of the restaurant to the Pan Mee 板麵 stall. Other than pan mee, she also serves curry laksa.

We placed our order with the friendly aunty, and before long, two glorious bowls of curry laksa were placed before us. Each bowl of curry laksa comes with your choice of noodles (yellow noodle or meehoon), raw cockles (siham), poached chicken, deep fried pig's skin, tofu puff, long beans, beansprouts and mint leaf. Don't worry too much about the raw cockles, just dunk them in the soup and they'll cook quickly. The curry laksa here is served with some extra chilli paste and half a calamansi lime.

Squeeze in the lime for that extra zing

The soup here is less rich than at the other curry laksa place we frequent, but still good - it's lighter, slightly tangy (from the lime) and flavorful. We enjoyed our bowl of curry laksa here and will definitely be back again!

We also tried the kaya toast and soft boiled eggs here, but the toast is nowhere near as good as this other place.

Opening times: 5am to 2pm. Closed on 2nd Saturday of the month.

Price: RM6 per bowl.
