Nelayan, meaning ‘Fisherman’ in the Malay language, was inspired by the locally and internationally acclaimed signature restaurant, Fisherman’s Cove. Nelayan offers a variety of Asian and Western selections for lunch while dinner features a unique symphony of seafood themed dishes and focuses on sustainable fishing practices and the freshest ingredients.
Instead of bread, they serve keropok (fish crackers) to each table for you to snack on while waiting for your order to arrive. I LIKE!
We find that when we're on a beach holiday, we tend to go for grilled or deep fried food. Our kids love eating satay, so we ordered a mix of chicken and beef satay, which is served with peanut sauce and ketupat (rice cakes).
Chicken wings, who can resist them? These Nelayan Wings are marinated in a spicy Malay marinade, and served with fries.
One of our favorite appetizers here is the Calamari Pedas - we enjoyed this so we had this on two occasions. The batter was light (on our first visit) but a bit too thick on the second visit.
Even before we arrived at the resort, I have been craving for keropok lekor. We ordered the Malay appetizers, which usually comes with tahu sumbat (but we requested this to be omitted), keropok lekor (fish sausage) and cucur udang (prawn fritters).
One of the afternoons, we decided to have a light lunch by the pool (ordered food from Nelayan). Lunch with a gorgeous view :) We had the Sea Nuggets from the kids menu, which was really nice. I was told they use fresh seabass for the sea nuggets. Fresh coconut is a must to cool down in the hot weather. We also ordered the Mexican Tortilla Wrap, cos it's convenient finger food for the pool side - turned out to be tasty and appetizing.
Two of my favorite dishes from Nelayan are the Nasi Goreng Kampung and Red Snapper. A very nicely prepared wok fried rice, with fried egg, keropok (fish crackers) and satay.
The red snapper fillet is lightly grilled and dusted with Cajun spice. The kids loved this! So, we had it again the next day before we left the resort.
Nelayan Cheese Burger was juicy - we went for the beef patty option, with extra Cheddar cheese, caramelised onion, and spicy guacamole in a sesame seed bun.
Banana split is the perfect dessert for the beach!
On Fridays and Saturdays, you can also find a seafood themed buffet dinner here at Nelayan. The buffet dinner will be held on the beach, accompanied with a view of the sea and sounds of the ocean.
Our kids enjoyed a stroll on the beach before dinner time

No connection to Nelayan at Tasek Titiwangsa, I guess. That one was a Thai restaurant, dunno if it is still around.
ReplyDeletegreat venue for a meal ... enjoying the feel of the sand under your toes, watching the sun set and listening to the waves wash over the beach! :D
