Beef Wellington is a traditional preparation of beef tenderloin coated with foie gras and mushroom duxelle, brushed with creamy mustard and then wrapped in puff pastry. This September, Prime at Le Meridien KL is featuring the Glorious Beef Wellington, a meat feast fit for a king.
Glorious Beef Wellington
Prime is no stranger to steak lovers, and is a restaurant Hubby and I frequent a lot when we have a craving for a good steak. We were delighted to be invited to try out their September promotion along with some fine wines, appetizers and desserts. Featuring an open kitchen (which we had the pleasure to cook in during the Cuisine Explored challenge), we watched the chefs deftly preparing our dishes for the evening, helmed by Sous Chef Nur Mohammad bin Zahar.
To start, we were served a trilogy of appetizers - foie gras on brioche, seared sea scallops on Parmesan potato and Prime composed salad. This trio contained 3 of my favorite ingredients - foie gras, scallops and a runny egg - so no surprise that I loved this! The luscious foie gras has been pan fried and then topped on a crisp, buttery brioche - the foie gras literally melted in the mouth, so so good! The scallop portion is a smaller version of my favorite appetizer at Prime. Finally, the Prime composed salad features soft boiled egg and bresaola.

The star of the night, the Beef Wellington has arrived. Priced at RM388 for 16oz/450g, this is recommended for 2 persons. We watched as Chef Nur sliced into the beef Wellington, to reveal beautiful, perfectly cooked meat. Executive Chef Antoine Rodriguez explains that they are using 100% O'Connor Black Angus 180 days grain fed tenderloin, and the meat has been sous vide, then baked in the oven for 10 minutes. Only one word to describe this - perfection! The beef was so tender and juicy, especially good eaten with the truffle sauce. This is definitely the BEST beef Wellington we have eaten, ever!
The beef Wellington is served with a side of butter poached and roasted Idaho potatoes and fresh wilted spinach, as well as a Béarnaise sauce.

What a treat - simply delicious!
We ended the night on a high with some fantastic desserts from Prime's a la carte dessert menu. I chose the Rich Hot Chocolate Cake, served with chocolate sauce and Gianduja ice cream (RM30) - a very rich, sinful dessert. Hubby had the moist carrot cake with whipped cream cheese and black sesame ice cream (RM30).
Pork-free.

ReplyDeleteHi Baby Sumo! Just a quick question yea, do you know how could I apply for the Starwood privilege card in Malaysia? Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteHi Bee, unfortunately Starwood Group have decided to discontinue the Starwood Privilege card in Malaysia. They have replaced it with the Starwood Preferred Guest card which you can apply at the hotels or online, and it is free. With this card, u can accumulate points each time when u dine or stay at the Starwood hotels. You can also get discounts at the F&B outlets (usually 20% off).
