Hubby kindly offered to treat me to lunch at either Sage or Cilantro, under the guise of daytime dating. Lunch venue would be selected depending upon which restaurant had the more appealing menu on offer that particular week. Both restaurants conveniently post their menus online on the respective websites.
Sage won our vote with the promise of foie gras, black truffle, and beef on their lunch menu. Chef Daniel greets us with a firm handshake upon arrival (regulars in the past :P), and we were ushered to our favorite table in the restaurant. The waitress serves us a complimentary fruit punch each, I say bring back the virgin mojito which I prefer.

Initially we were thinking of having a 3-course lunch only (not wanting to be too greedy), but in the end we decided to go for 4-courses (ie 2 appetizers... gluttons afterall). I'm glad we did, or else we would have missed the awesome Carpaccio of Buri Fish with Avruga Caviar and Kombu Soy. I would categorise this more towards a sashimi, and it was so fresh and delicate and accentuated by the kombu soy and some truffle oil. Simple but so so so good!
The next appetizer that we had was the glazed duck breast with foie gras and shaved black truffle salad. This is a much richer appetizer compared to the buri fish, thanks to the luscious fat foie gras sitting atop the duck breast. Generous amount of black truffle is shaved over this appetizer.
At Sage, the mains options are usually fish or meat. And when beef is on the menu, I am so here! In the past, we've always had beef simply grilled and served with accompaniments. This time, the grilled Black Angus beef, which is cooked to perfection, sliced and served with a wild rocket salad and goma and yuzu vinaigrette. I really like the vinaigrette - the sesame seeds give it a lovely nuttiness, and I need to recreate this vinaigrette for my Steak Nights at home. Suffice to say, we devoured our mains with complete satisfaction.

Dessert is plump strawberries in red wine sauce, served with an almond nougat glacé. The strawberries were juicy albeit a little sour, but the star of this dish is definitely the nougat glacé, which reminds me a lot of eating Rum&Raisin ice cream.
