Located on Jalan Mesui, the casual restaurant which translates to "lucky tiger" oozes cool vibes, with its Insta-worthy neon sign and chic al fresco dining area. The menu features an interesting array of Japanese fusion dishes, injected with an Asian twist - such as Sarawak umai somen and Thai tomyum udon.
For lunch, Lucky Tora offers lunch sets (available everyday!) which come with miso soup - choose from various rice bowls, fried rice or ramen, with prices starting from RM22. We had the Beef Katsu Curry Rice (RM32), deep fried breaded beef with Japanese curry (with potato and carrot), egg and rice. Comfort in a bowl!
Come evening, there will also be makimono (sushi rolls), okonomiyaki, salads, yakitori and delightful sharing platters. We highly recommend the vibrant Sashimi Ceviche (RM22), perfect for whetting your appetite. A selection of raw fish such as tuna and octopus is cured in lime juice and then served with Tora-style salsa and deep fried crispy wantan skin.
Cheong fun is usually filled with shrimp or char siew. However, here at Lucky Tora, cheong fun (rice rolls) gets a fun makeover, and is filled with raw salmon, crab meat, foie gras, lady's finger and dried shrimp, served with homemade sweet chilli sauce.

Juicy gyozas, anyone? - Yes please! Diners can opt for either prawn or chicken dumplings, which are deep fried and served with a sour-spicy dip.

Restaurant manager and mixologist, Haniff, sets the bar alight with his creative, crafted cocktails. Haniff enjoys infusing local ingredients such as pandan and assam boi into his creations. He surprised us with his delicious cocktails, namely Mr. Miyagi, Lucky Tora Whisky Sour, Tora! Tora! Tora! and Zen Garden.
My personal favourite was Mr. Miyagi (RM24), a refreshing sake cocktail with assam seed. Coming in a close second is his version of Whisky Sour (RM42), which uses a blend of Suntory and Jameson whisky along with sugar, honey, lemon, egg white and finished with some Himalayan sea salt. Absolutely fantastic!
Tora! Tora! Tora! (RM39) - featuring Plantation Dark, Plantation O.F.T.D, gin, amaro, cassis, honey, bitters, served with a cool, branded ice cube.
Lucky Tora Whisky Sour (RM42) and Zen Garden (RM36), a floral, gin-infused lavender tea with lemon, elderflower, rose and egg white.
Order some yakitori, which will pair perfectly with your drink. A selection of grilled meats and vegetables are available - such as chicken, lady's fingers, mushroom truffle, tsukune, lamb, saba fish, unagi and Wagyu beef.
A scoop of luscious rum and raisin ice cream will ensure you end your meal on a sweet note.
