2018 Mooncakes @ Shanghai Restaurant, JW Marriott KL

The chefs at the award-winning Shanghai Restaurant in JW Marriott KL is proud to present a unique selection of handcrafted mooncakes this Mid-Autumn Festival. Handcrafted by skillful Dim Sum Chef Kong Sok Wah and his team, these parcels of sweet pastry are the perfect gifts for loved ones and friends.

The unique lineup include Baked Pandan Paste with Salted Egg Yolk and the delicate Snow Skin Shiro Umeboshi with Green Tea. The popular Snow Skin Durian Paste with Truffle is also available this year for durian enthusiasts and these delights are made with fresh Musang King durians, encased in a delicate chilled snow skin, a truly decadent combination.

Effortlessly fusing traditional ingredients with modern flavours, Chef Kong presents three new creations this year – Baked Corn Paste with Salted Egg Yolk, Snow Skin Corn Paste with Red Wine and Snow Skin Custard Paste with Tiramisu. Aromatic and finely balanced, each mooncake is the perfect addition to any family gathering or celebration.

We sampled the Snow Skin Shiro Umeboshi with Green Tea Paste (RM27) and Baked White Lotus Paste with Salted Egg Yolk (RM17)... so smooth and delicious!

Those who prefer traditional flavours will take pleasure in favourites such as Baked White Lotus Paste with Salted Egg Yolk, Baked Black Sesame Paste, Baked Bamboo-Charcoal Paste with Salted Egg Yolk and Deep-Fried Crispy Yam Paste.

Available until 24 September 2018, a box of six mini mooncakes is priced from RM98 and a box of four large mooncakes is priced from RM178. To place an order, please call 03- 2719 8288 or email shanghairestaurant@ytlhotels.com.my.

  1. White lotus with salted egg yolk, that's my pick! RM17 is reasonably priced. There are some here, from over at your side, going for nothing less than RM20! Tsk! Tsk!
