It's Mother's Day in the UK today, so Happy Mother's Day especially to my MIL. I am very fortunate that my family celebrates Mother's Day with me twice a year (yup, I get to celebrate again in May ;)).
As an early Mother's Day treat, Hubby took to my favorite restaurant, Sage KL for lunch.
We opted for 4-course lunch, ie two appetizers, mains and dessert. Our meal got off to a great start, as the first appetizer to be served is my favorite dish here at Sage KL - Carpaccio of Hamachi with Smoked Caviar and Truffle Soy. So simple and so good! Major love for this amazing dish.
Next, we had the Nameko Mushroom Risotto with Glazed Duck Breast and Foie Gras. We were pleased that the foie gras portion during this visit was a generous portion. The glazed duck breast had a nice smoky flavour to it.
For mains, we both chose the Duo Preparation of Wagyu Beef with Yuzukoshou and Tonkatsu Sauce. The steak was tender and beautifully cooked, and was served with pomme puree, and flowering chives. The tonkatsu sauce was nicely flavoured, and went very well with the steak. Didn't care much for the beef cheeks though.
Chef Daniel very kindly prepared a special dessert for us - Chocolate fondant with Baked Apple in Phyllo Pastry with Caramel Ice Cream. The chocolate fondant had a beautiful rich flavour, and we loved the accompanying ice cream too.
