For a taste of Sarawak food in Seremban, you can visit Cat City Restaurant located in Oakland Commercial Centre. On a recent day trip down to Seremban to meet up with friends, we dropped by this restaurant for breakfast.
Their menu comprises of Sarawak laksa, kolo mee (red or white version), five spice roll, fried manicai meehoon, and tomato crispy mee (Sat & Sun only). We were told that the owners originate from Kuching, hence the food served here is authentic.
I had the Sarawak laksa (RM6.80) - diners can choose to have meehoon, kolo mee or kueh teow. My recommendation is the meehoon, for the real deal. They serve the thick type of meehoon (rice vermicelli), along with omelette strips, shredded chicken, beansprouts and prawns - everything you would find in a bowl of Sarawak laksa in Kuching. It certainly looked and tasted the part. I loved it, the broth was robust and full of flavour. Highly recommended.
Hubby had the Kuching kolo mee (RM5.50). When asked what the difference was between the white and red version, we were told that the red one would be slightly sweeter. Hubby went for the white version. The noodles were nice and springy and was topped with char siew, minced pork and spring onions. This is served with some pickled red chilli and a small bowl of soup. Again, we enjoyed this... very delicious.
Happy to have found this gem of a restaurant in Seremban, will definitely be back.
