Ramadan Buffet 2017 @ Nook, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral

This holy month of Ramadan, Nook in Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral will be offering an enhanced spread of traditional Ramadan favourites at its live action stations in addition to its buffet spread of local and international cuisine for diners to break fast during dinner.  Created by Nook's Sous Chef Ahmed Zaki bin Harun, there will be over 150 dishes showcased during the Ramadan buffet on a rotational basis with a focus on authentic Malay food. Good news: Nook's kitchen is now certified Halal.

The centrepiece for the Ramadan buffet is the Nasi Kambing Sumbat, roasted whole lamb stuffed with Arabic fragrant rice. The meat was tender and well-spiced, simply irresistible. Another highlight of the buffet is Chef Zaki's Slow braised beef shin rendang, which has been slow cooked for over 7 hours and seasoned generously with traditional Asian spices of salt, pepper, cinnamon, and star anise.

Chef Zaki also recommends that diners check out the Masak lemak itik and Pucuk rebung masak lemak (Bamboo shoots cooked in coconut milk) at the buffet line, as he reckons it's pretty rare to find these traditional dishes elsewhere.

Check out the array of curries available such as Crab Curry, Fish Head Curry, Ayam Masak Merah, Gulai Kambing, and Gulai Itik. I love the crab curry while my dining partner just couldn't get enough of the fish head curry.

Don't forget to check out the grill station, for some satay, grilled fish, squid and prawns.

There will also be murtabak, roti canai, nasi lemak, cucur udang, cucur cempedak, keropok udang and pasembur.

Adding variety to the A-List buffet are dishes from the Chinese, Indian and Western kitchen. Diners can indulge in Wok-fried teriyaki char siew chicken, Steamed whole sea bass with ginger sauce, Lamb pot pie, Barbeque wings, Sarawak laksa and more.

Nook's A-List Ramadan Buffet is priced at RM135 nett per adult and is served daily for dinner (6.30pm-10.30pm) from 29 May to 25 June 2017.
