Hotel Review: Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside, Malaysia

During the recent December school holidays, we wanted to take our kids away for the day - somewhere not too far, yet we could feel that we were on "holiday". Putrajaya is best known as the federal administrative centre of Malaysia (think Government buildings etc), but it is at this unlikely location that we had a very enjoyable 2D1N stay with our kids at the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside Hotel.

Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside is part of the upscale Accor's brand and is located at the shores of Putrajaya Lake. Its close proximity to KL city made this an ideal drive for our family as the journey took less than 30 minutes. The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) is also a mere 25 minutes away.

Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside was meticulously crafted to depict architectural design and ambiences that are distinctively ethnic Malay, Chinese, Indian and of the Borneo continent. We were booked into the Lotus Wing's 2 bedroom apartment. While the other accommodation bearing Asian influences were beautiful, the 2-bedroom apartment is exactly the kind of guestroom which was best to my liking. Modern, contemporary and plush, we were wowed from the moment we stepped through the doors.

The 2-bedroom apartment comes with 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a living area. This is ideal for a small family like ours. The rooms are fully equipped with wifi, three 32" LCD TVs, laptop sized safety box, and coffee and tea making facilities.

With attached shower/toilet (sliding door to separate the toilet and bedroom)

In terms of facilities especially for those with young families, it was quite impressive. The Kids Club was where we spent most of the afternoon, with the kids entertaining themselves with the various toys available. Even many five-star hotels in KL city do not provide playrooms like this. Next door there is a Karaoke room, which we would have loved to try since both our kids are into singing but unfortunately it was under renovation. There is also a Games room with video games and Wii as well bicycles for rent.

Lots and lots of cute soft toys

I can drive like Schumacher

Another place we enjoyed spending time at was the swimming pool. There are 2 swimming pools, one being a shallow children's pool. We certainly had a splashing good time here.

We had a restful sleep on the plush, comfortable beds. Woke up to a beautiful sunrise and walked down to the lakefront open air amphitheater to enjoy the cool morning breeze.

There are five food and beverage outlets in the hotel. B's Restaurant, the all-day dining outlet offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as authentic Asian and Western delights on their a la carte menu. When we were there, there was a Indonesian food promotion which was pretty good.

The freshly made pizzas were pretty good

The hotel's signature restaurant is The Village which features local architecture with traditional attap roofing with a view of the lake. Guests can enjoy alfresco dining with an array of fresh seafood and grill. Every Fridays and Saturdays, there is a Weekend BBQ buffet priced at RM89++ per person with grilled lamb, beef, fish, prawn and squid on offer.

Guests can also unwind at the cosy China Bar & Lounge by the hotel lobby. Other dining outlets in the hotel are Bar on Third, a poolside bistro serving light snacks and drinks as well as The Deli for homemade breads, pastries and chocolates.

Another worthwhile service available here is the spa, which is said to be one of the largest hotel spas in the country. Fit and Spa Lounge is fitted with 10 cosy treatment rooms and 9 spa concept rooms. Another blogpost will follow regarding the treatments available at the spa. All I can say for now is that the spa here is really good!

Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside

Verdict: Ideal for young families as well as short weekend getaway. Hotel rooms are luxuriously furnished with great facilities such as Kids Club, swimming pool and spa.

Room rates start from RM260++.  The 2-bedroom apartment is available for RM680++.

    1. Haha! So a coffee maker in the room would be the deal breaker for you huh? I think more and more KL hotels are picking up on this.

  3. Nice hotel. I wonder what the rates are like. Will google and see. Daughter will have her convo there in May - the local one (she did a twinning programme). Perhaps we would just skip it but she would want to go and meet her friends - would need to look for a hotel there then.

    1. It's not right in the city, but not much traffic getting there. And pretty close to the airport too.

    1. The other rooms decor is slightly less modern and more Asian. But still nice nonetheless.

  13. Hi Baby Sumo,

My search for a place to stay in Putrajaya brought me to your blog. I immediately liked this 2-bedroom apartment at Pullman Putrajaya and called them to make a reservation. Unfortunately the receptionist told me that they don't have this kind of room at Pullman Putrajaya, then I informed her about this information I got from your blog but she kept denying it.

Hmmmm.. I find it a little weird.

However, I managed to book 2 rooms at Putrajaya Shangri-La at a slightly higher price than the Pullman 2-bedroom apartment, but it is a very nice and very private hotel, worth every penny spent.

I really wanted to try Pullman, but I feel cheated. Lucky for you to be able to experience their warm hospitality. =)

Just wondering does the karaoke room and the wii have a different price or anyone could have it freely during the stay?
