Over the weekend, we went for another Korean BBQ meal with our friends. We chose Nak Won as it's close to our friend's place and we had a good meal when we dined here last year. As we arrived quite late this time, the place was much busier and we were ushered to one of the tatami-style tables at a hidden corner of the restaurant so service was painfully slow. Thankfully, the great company and food made up for it.
We ordered a seafood pajeon (RM25), beef bulgogi (RM45), 3 ply pork belly (RM27) and marinated pork BBQ (RM26). The standout ban chan (side dishes) for me were the cucumber kimchi, kimchi, eggplant and beansprouts. It was difficult to get a refill though cos of our obscure seating position.
The beef bulgogi came served on a portable gas stove, so it stayed hot throughout our meal. The beef was tender and delicious, and was served with glass noodles and spring onions. We enjoyed this.
The pork belly was yummy too, the waiter did a good job cooking it despite the restaurant being busy. Ventilation was pretty bad though at our table, so we joked that the ladies had "smoky eyes". The marinated pork was tender, but a little lacking in the marination department as it tasted similar to the unmarinated pork belly.
Overall we enjoyed our meal, but in future we will avoid going at 8pm (peak dinner time). We definitely enjoyed it better when the restaurant is less busy. You can read about our previous experience here.
