Brazilian Churrascaria Buffet @ Qba, The Westin KL

A churrascaria is a restaurant serving grilled meats, whereby the waiters would move around the restaurant with skewers of meat and slice it off on diners' plates.

Every Friday and Saturday, the award-winning Qba Bar & Grill in The Westin KL will be transformed into a churrascaria, where meat lovers can indulge in an all-you-can-eat Brazilian Churrascaria buffet spread with a fantastic selection of perfectly-grilled meat and seafood. Priced at RM120 nett per person, I have to say it is great value for money, especially with the great selection on offer.

To provide the unmistakable and authentic flavor of churrasco to the diners, the chefs at Qba marinate the meat with traditional spices and make full use of the restaurant’s Rotisseries and the Brazilian-inspired churrasco to smoke and grill the meat.

Diners can help themselves to a selection of appetizers laid out in a buffet spread at the front of the restaurant. There are a few types of salad (house salad, steak salad, chicken salad, fruit salad), feijoada (authentic brazilian black bean stew and farofa), estrogonofe de frango (chicken stroganoff), shrimp ceviche, arroz branco (Brazilian white rice), pure de batata (creamy mashed potatoes) as well as plantain and beetroot chips for snacking on.

Caesar salad and ovo de codorna (marinated quail eggs)

Salada de frutas – fruit salad with house vinaigrette

Shrimp ceviche

One of the highlights of this churrasco was the grilled seafood platter, served to our table. Everything on this plate was perfectly cooked, my favorite being the grilled scallops (no surprise here :P). The scallops were huge and plump, and the best thing is that I could reorder this over and over again. Other items on the plate were grilled squid, snapper and seabass, all equally delicious too :)

The waiters will then come to each table with large skewers of grilled quality cuts of beef, lamb, chicken, sausages and seafood.

King prawns - juicy and fresh!

Sobrecoxa - Chicken thigh wrapped with turkey bacon full of rich smoky flavour marinated with lemon, garlic and spices

“PIRI-PIRI” chicken wings - skewered tender juicy pieces of chicken wing soaked with homemade piri-piri, glazed with lemon, herb and chilli sauce as it comes off the grill

Cordeiro - chorizo spicy lamb sausage

Picanha  - sirloin cap - a lean, juicy cut of beef with a mild, tangy and garlicky flavor. The first couple of rounds were good, and I enjoyed this with just salt or the chimichurri sauce. However, it got a little dry and tough as the evening went on. In my opinion, it pays to come early to this dinner.

3 types of salt to go with your meats

This was another favorite of ours here that evening - BRAZILIAN COSTELÁO - 6-hour slow roasted beef ribs with homemade spice paste and homemade “barbie” sauce. Absolutely tender and full of flavour. We definitely had a meat feast here at Qba ;)

Grilled pineapple - simple and good! Especially loved the caramelised bits ;)

There is only one type of dessert offered here - the crème brulee in pineapple boat with young coconut bliss. Attractively presented in a hollowed out pineapple, it tasted really good.
