Seremban Makan Trip, Part 5: Beef Noodles, Quinn's Restaurant

Due to Christmas and New Year festivities, some blogposts were promoted to the front of my ever growing backlog. It is now time to publish my final Seremban Makan Trip post, I hope you have enjoyed reading them all. I can hardly wait to make another trip back to my hometown and share some more of the local goodies with you all.

Locals in Seremban refer to them as "the Original", "the King" and "the Quinn".. I am talking about the famous beef noodles from Seremban.
Perhaps it's because the taste is so familiar to me, or maybe it's because the noodles are really that good, nevertheless I can't stop singing praises for these beef noodles. Two years ago, I would always order the dry version which came with a small bowl of soup. Somehow, I got hooked on the taste of the soup and switched to ordering the beef noodles in soup. The taste of the kiam chai (preserved salted vegetable) boiled with beef bones is simply delicious and appetizing.

The lou shi fun (rat tail noodles) here aren't just any old noodles, they are homemade daily and do not contain any preservatives. So smooth and slurpiliciously good.

It can get a little crazy here on weekends, so come early (before noon) or after the rush hour at 1.30pm. We had to wait a good 40 minutes before we were served that afternoon. We sipped on our homemade soy bean drink and refreshing sour plum and lime drink (shun mui kat chai) while waiting. But it's well worth the wait when you take your first mouthful of noodles.

Baby C likes the dry version of the beef noodles. To read more about my previous visit here and more on the dry version, click here.

Yummy!

Trufflina, Guylian Belgian Chocolates

Chocolates are hard to resist at the best of times. I found myself passing through some airport duty free shopping zones this Christmas time and succumbing to the "buy me, buy me" cries I heard from the Trufflina display area.

Several different chocolatiers offer chocolate truffles - these Guylian Trufflina ones are pleasant. I'm a repeat customer :-)

They are available in a metal presentation tin of 32 pieces....

... and also packaged as 8 pieces in a cardboard box.

They come in pairs of white chocolate, and triplets of both milk chocolate and dark chocolate shells, however the inner filling is the same regardless of the outer shell.

The white chocolate truffle is often first to go when a new box is opened in our household. Personally I like to store these beauties in the fridge, letting them out prior to consumption to soften them a little. If stored at room temperature in Malaysia I find them to be too soft, others may prefer them soft I guess.

So, which chocolate do you love indulging in?
