One Sunday morning, we were in Damansara Uptown to try out the Vietnamese rolls at Obanhmi and thought we'd check out a new artisan coffee shop nearby.
Standing Theory met our requirements.
A huge cuppa ?
This modern, minimal/industrial purveyor of fine coffee will surely attract the hipsters and the caffeine addicts of PJ and further afield.
The waitress invited us to try their VD Roll, a Vietnamese sandwich which they do here however in light of our breakfast that morning, that was out of the equation for us. We settled for drinks only - flat white, mocha, hot chocolate, iced chocolate and ice lemon sky.
Coffee art definitely adds to the experience when enjoying a lazy Sunday morning beverage and we were suitably impressed with the designs carefully created at Standing Theory. I enjoy a cup of coffee from time to time and was satisfied by the flat white (RM10) which I ordered.
The minimal look works well and lends itself nicely for arty food/drink photography. Some quirky stools have been assembled using pipe fittings welded to a simple base and topped in polished wood.
Both the hot and iced chocolate drinks (RM10) were rich and smooth and can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.
Standing Theory also does a selection of cakes. However our friend has generously prepared some individual cheesecakes for Yen's birthday which we enjoyed with our drinks.
Mocha (RM11)
The yellow "cable reel" which occupies the far corner of the cafe offers a splash of colour and doubles up as a table when they get busy or as an adventure playground for children when its not so busy. Our two certainly had fun weaving through it, eventually sitting on top.
A parting shot with the kids new best friend Eunice jie jie
