Last weekend, we ventured to Kuchai Lama for some roast duck... and what a great find it was!
Soon Fatt Beijing Roast Duck's first branch is located at Jalan Pasar in Pudu and is run by Mr. Lam Kwai Fatt. We learnt that Mr. Lam has already been in this roast duck business for over 30 years and currently they have 2 other outlets in Kota Damansara and Kuchai Lama which is run by his son, Gavin Lam.
This Kuchai Lama outlet is Soon Fatt's third outlet, and is located inside Restoran Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee. Over at this outlet, they only sell roast ducks.

What's great about the roast ducks here is the crispy skin and moist, juicy meat. The ducks are marinated with 10 secret ingredients, then air dried and roasted for precisely 42 minutes. You can choose from 3 types of duck here - the Beijing roast duck, Pipa roast duck and sesame pipa roast duck.
The Pipa Roast Duck is priced at RM48 for whole duck and RM25 for half duck. This is great eaten with either the plum sauce or chilli sauce provided.

We also tried the Beijing Roast Duck, which is also called the "wet" version. A light herbal sauce s poured over the roast duck before serving - this sauce comes from inside the ducks after the roasting process. The ducks used for this is bigger, so if you like it meatier, go for this. A whole duck is priced at RM58 (or RM30 for half duck) and you can also order a 1/4 portion for RM16-18.
