Last weekend, I was craving for nasi lemak so we went to check out Ali, Muthu & Ah Hock located in Chinatown (near Petaling Street). We took the MRT and got there around 9.30am, and the restaurant was already packed! Thankfully, we didn't have to wait long as there was still one table available.
The restaurant's name represents the three main races in Malaysia and the food that they offer, namely Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisine. How cute!
One of their most popular dishes here is the Nasi lemak with ayam goreng berempah (RM12.20). Served on a banana leaf, the rice was fragrant and we liked the sambal, which was a mix of spicy and sweet flavours. The peanuts and ikan bilis were crunchy. The ayam goreng berempah was well-marinated, juicy and flavourful, though I did find the skin to be slightly overfried. Overall, an enjoyable plate of nasi lemak.
We also shared the Mee goreng Muthu (RM9.90), their version of the mee goreng mamak. Served piping hot, the fried yellow noodles was moist and full of flavour. Usually, the one we have at our local mamak only has tofu and vegetables, but this comes with prawns and sliced chicken too. An excellent plate of noodles!
Baby D had the roti bakar set (RM5.60), which comes with two slices of toast, two half boiled eggs and a drink (daddy had the kopi). Surprisingly, this took the longest to arrive, especially the eggs (we had to remind them three times that it hasn't arrived and it came when I was almost done with my nasi lemak). Sadly, after all that waiting, the eggs were a letdown as they were undercooked.
A nice place for breakfast, and you can explore Chinatown once you have eaten.
