Where can you find one of the best roast ducks in KL? At Soon Fatt Roast Duck, of course! They have two outlets: Pudu, which offers duck plus other roasted meats (10am-3pm) and Kuchai Lama, which does roast duck only (3-8pm).

Here are some of the dishes which we tried and loved:

Items were well packed and arrived piping hot. Everything was absolutely delicious; from the juicy and tender roast duck to the sweet, sticky char siew and crispy roast pork.

Jyu Jyu Yakiniku KL: Delivery & Takeaway

 Fancy having a yakiniku party at home while watching the Tokyo Olympics on TV?

Jyu Jyu Yakiniku, located in The Table at Isetan the Japan Store KL, is now available for delivery and pick-up. Simply select your preferred dishes, along with your preferred delivery date/time on this website and you can enjoy a feast at home in no time at all! *Free delivery for orders above RM200.

Here are some of the dishes which we tried: 

♥️ Mixed Bento - Harami and Beef Tongue  (RM45)
♥️ Honey Lemon Chicken Don (RM24.90)
♥️ Aus Wagyu and Kalbi 150g (mix) - DIY yakiniku
♥️ Harami 100g - DIY yakiniku
♥️ Potato salad and assorted namul.

The DIY yakiniku cuts were vacuum sealed and packed in a cooler bag to keep the items fresh during delivery. The cuts were excellent; great marbling and oh-so-tender! Because yakiniku cuts are so thin, we decided to cook them using a blow torch (super quick, effortless and less cleaning up too) and it worked out great. Alternatively, you can cook them over a grill pan or BBQ. They also have cooked dishes, if you're too lazy to cook, such as bento sets and grilled chicken sets.

Roasted Chef House, Cookhouse Seventeen, PJ

There are not many places in Kuala Lumpur / Selangor which do char siu (BBQ pork) the way I like it. It takes great mastery to get the texture and flavours absolutely spot on. The first time I tried the char siu from Roasted Chef House, I immediately fell in love with it. 

Roasted Chef House, which has its roots in Subang Jaya, recently opened a new outlet in Cookhouse in Seventeen Mall, PJ. You can #StayHomeStaySafe, by placing your order via the website and getting your order delivered to your doorstep (or you can also opt for a takeaway/pick-up). 

Back to the char siu - glistening, sticky, succulent goodness! The pork meat had a nice balance of lean to fat ratio, and they got the texture just right too. Absolutely superb.

Char siew (RM28 for big)

Other than the char siu, we highly recommend the siew yuk (roast pork) with amazing, crispy crackling, juicy roasted duck and roast chicken, complemented by the kickass chilli sauce. To complete your meal, you can also get the appetizing assam vegetable.

Recipe: Pan Fried Pork Patty

A couple of months ago, I made these pan fried pork patties for the kids. They liked it so much that this has graced our dinner table pretty often since then. Best of all, they're super easy to make. You can make them any size you want, just cook them until they're lightly golden on the exterior. Happy cooking!

Pan fried pork patty

Recipe by Baby Sumo

Preparation time: 5 minutes

Cooking time: 15 minutes
Makes 15-20

Ingredients
300g minced pork
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch

1/2 tbsp Shaoxing wine

1/2 tbsp sesame oil

A dash of white pepper  

1 tbsp spring onions, green part only

1 tbsp cooking oil


1. In a bowl, mix pork with all other ingredients (except cooking oil). Set aside to marinate for 10 minutes.

2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium high heat. Using your hands, form the patties, approximately 3-4 cm in diameter and about 5-6mm thick. You can make them any size you want actually, no wrong or right here!

3. Pan fry for a few minutes, until they turn golden brown, then flip over and cook until golden. Repeat with remaining pork. You can make about 8-10 at one time, depending on the size of your pan.

4. Serve with sweet chilli sauce.
