Seremban is about 45-minutes drive from KL, so it's not much different than driving to Klang. If possible, try to get down early in the morning as there are many delicious breakfast options such as curry laksa, roast duck and many more. Here are my Top 10 favourite restaurant / food stall in Seremban.
Guide to Good Food in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan:
1. Curry laksa from Restoran Asia
I have been eating here since I was a kid, and the curry laksa here is one of the best I've tasted. The coconut-based broth is flavoursome and rich. For kids who do not eat spicy stuff, they do a good "kon lo loh shu fan" (rat tail noodles with pork mince). Full review can be found here and here.
GPS coordinates: 2.702364, 101.953962
2. Roast duck and siew yoke (roast pork) from Wah Heng
My whole family loves the roast duck from this shop which we have been eating for many years. The meat is tender and flavourful, with a wonderfully crisp skin. The siew yoke here is also awesome. The wantan mee in the same coffeeshop is also worth trying - try the prawn wantans and sui gau dumplings. Full review can be found here and here.
Location: Kedai Nasi Ayam - Itik Wah Heng, Restoran Haup Huat, Jalan Tuanku Munawir, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (a few lanes away from Pasar Besar Seremban)
GPS coordinates: 2.728625, 101.936367
3. Hakka Mee from Tow Kee
Hakka Mee is said to have originated from Seremban. For Hakka Mee, you have two options - go to the one at the shop opposite the Yellow Bus Stand behind Maybank or the one in the Pasar Besar (Seremban wet market). Both owners are related, usually we get ours from the Pasar Besar. Full review can be found here.
Tow Kee Hakka Noodles, 94 Jalan Kapitan Tam Yeong, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (behind Maybank)
GPS Coordinates: 2.729863, 101.938276
Tow Kee Hakka Noodles, Stall No. 810, Pasar Besar Seremban, Jalan Pasar, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS Coordinates: 2.729633, 101.93679
4. Beef noodles from Quinn's Restaurant
I've eaten many beef noodles in KL but Seremban's dry version remains one of my favorites. The handmade noodles are topped with a special sauce that you can't find anywhere else. Quinn's is related to other famous beef noodles outlets in the Pasar Besar (Seremban wet market) and King's (near The Store in Seremban). I prefer going to Quinn's since it is air-conditioned and very clean. If you're visiting the Pasar Besar, you can also try the sotong mee hoon from adjacent stall. Full review here and here.
Location: Quinn Restaurant, 108 Jalan Toman 6, Kemayan Square, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. (near KPJ Seremban Specialist Hospital)
GPS Coordinates: 2.719757, 101.923074
5. Wantan mee from Keong Kee
I love eating wantan mee. My all-time favorite is Keong Kee Wantan Mee, as the noodles are really springy. They are homemade daily, sometimes when we visit Seremban we would buy some back to KL to cook. I also love the herbal chicken feet side dish. Full review can be found here.
Location: Keong Kee Wan Tan Mee, 152 Jalan Veloo, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS Coordinates: 2.731481, 101.933534
6. Restoran TC Keong
What's good here? Everything! This is our favorite "dai chow" (Chinese big-fry) restaurant in Seremban. I ate at the original outlet, "dai shu tau" under a big tree in Templer (now closed down) since I was 4 years old and when one of the brothers (owner of this restaurant) opened up here, we started dining here regularly. By regular, I mean 3x a week! Recommended dish are the stir fry beef, wat tan hor (noodles), steamed fish head, deep fry fish, sweet and sour pork, and their signature tofu dish. Full review here and here.
Location: TC Keong Restaurant, No. 7 Ground Floor, Jalan Seri Rahang 1, Taman Seri Rahang, 70100 Seremban (near Cosway)
GPS Coordinates: 2.717239, 101.948973
7. Haji Shariff Cendol
The cendol here is all-natural with no added colouring (it gets its colour from pandan leaves). I like the cendol pulut here, an excellent thirst-quencher on a hot day. In the evenings, the adjacent parking area is converted to a "hawker haven" with a huge variety of delicious food. Full review can be found here.
Location: Haji Shariff Cendol & Catering Sdn Bhd, 44 Jalan Yam Tuan, 70000 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS Coordinates: 2.726635, 101.940081
8. Satay from Restoran Sate R & K
Good satay in Seremban? I find the satay here pretty delicious (I like it cos it's quite lean and nicely marinated), and the accompanying peanut sauce is good. I also like the different kinds of nasi goreng (fried rice) I can get here and the seafood tom yum.Full review can be found here.
Location: Restoran Sate R&K , 312 Taman AST, Jalan Sg Ujong, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS coordinates: 2.724012, 101.930165
9. Porridge from Restoran Seremban Chicken Porridge
Think porridge should only be eaten when you're feeling under the weather? I could eat the chee chap chuk (pig's offal porridge) from this place anytime. Another stall that we've eaten at for years, the original stall was at Jalan Veloo before moving to the current location. Another must-try here is the smooth pak cham kai (chicken steeped in stock). Be early as they usually sell out within 1 hour of opening at 6.15pm. Full review can be found here.
Location: Restoran Seremban Chicken Porridge, Taman Suria, Jln Tun Dr Ismail, 70200 Seremban (two doors down from 7-eleven)GPS Coordinates: 2.739500, 101.925491
10. Seremban Siew Pow
The most famous food from Seremban has to be siew pow, a flaky pastry filled with pork and sometimes chicken. There are many places selling siew pow but our favorite is from Empayar Seremban Siew Pow. There are several types of siew pow but I would recommend the less-glossy looking one (crispy siew pow) as it actually have much crispier and buttery pastry than the glossy siew pow. Full review can be found here.
Location: Empayar Seremban Siew Pow, LG1-57, Tingkat Bawah Tanah, Pasar Besar Negeri Sembilan, Jalan Besar TBK 4, Taman Bukit Kepayang, 70200 Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
GPS Coordinates: 2.714324,101.907635
I hope that this guide will be useful to anyone visiting Seremban. Do try them and let me know if you like them as much as I do. Other restaurant reviews can be found under the Label "Seremban".

DeleteIs Meng Kei the one next to KFC ah?
DeleteYaya....correct. Is that the one? I reckon that place was once a happening food court at night. *many years ago...
DeleteYes, that's the one. Actually during daytime, they still have the good wantan noodle shop (No. 5 on my list). Other shops only open at night cos it's really hot there.
DeleteOhh...I rmbr that wantan mee...Tried b4..But these days I hardly go to town..Sometimes weekend quite jam oso. Moreover, Seremban2 now has most of thing. =)

DeleteThe ideal weekend food hunt getaway destination!
ReplyDeleteThen after that you can bring Sam to Port Dickson for the beach! 30 mins away from Seremban :)
DeleteOK, i'd want the curry laksa (thanks to the generous amount of big-sized cockles!), the siew yok (which looks quite melt-in-the-mouthish), maaaaybe the hakka mee (the noodles look enjoyably slippery-smooth, though i wonder if it might be bland), and certainly the chicken feet (which i've only grown to appreciate in recent years!). you're right, seremban really isn't very far at all ... and getting onto the KL-seremban highway is just 5 minutes from sri petaling :D
ReplyDeleteThe siew yoke is definitely melt in the mouth with a crisp skin, and the Hakka noodles is not bland at all as each strand is coated with pork mince sauce/oil. You'll have to recommend some good (hidden gems) eats in Melaka to me and all your readers as well!
DeleteAha, the long awaited guide to Seremban. Next you'll be offering guided tours (hint hint) and I'll be the first to sign up :-)
ReplyDeleteHehe I wish I had the time to do guided tours... it would be fun, me thinks!
Deleteyour daughter is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle!
DeleteOh Yen is from Seremban! I want to eat the wantan mee & satay, hahaha! The wantan mee in Sydney tastes very different from Malaysia & so far, I still haven't found a place that sells nice wantan mee, so sad........
ReplyDeleteTry making it before?

DeleteOmg! The biggest mistake to read this in the middle of the night! My stomach actually growled! T-T everything looks so good! I nor knew sere ban has so much good food. Usually when there's a makan trip down, it's always seremban siu hai(crab) which this list doesn't have! O_o

Hi Jacqueline, there is a KFC opposite road of the Keong Kee Wan Tan mee place. It's not really a shop, but in a "food court" sort of place. The GPS is here: 2.732542,101.936221
DeleteWas in Seremban yesterday for my one of a kind food blog inspired road trips and your blog was one of our guide blogs. Unfortunately though, it being a public holiday several of the shops were not opened :(
ReplyDeleteThere was one location which was mysterious to us, we wanted to try the Tow Kee Hakka Noodles located over at Jalan Kapitan Tam Yeong. Using the GPS given we got to the spot but did not find it. Was it a stall or a shop lot?
Hi Andrew it's located in a shoplot right behind Maybank and a few doors down is a pet/bird shop. Unless it's moved location in the last few months, it should be where I described it. I'll check on this the next time we visit Seremban.
DeleteThanks for sharing Yen :) I know where can I look for good food when I visit Seremban!
ReplyDeleteAlso try Nasi Lemak and Laksa at the Stall opposite the Chan Wa school in Jalan Temiang. This small stall is just next door to the King Soon aquarium. One of the best i've tried. Happy eating.
ReplyDeleteEating and Traveling to Seremban sure brings a lot of excitement. :)
ReplyDeleteA friend of mine told me that the best 88 Days Chicken Bean Sprout in Seramban. Location?
ReplyDeleteMust add
ReplyDeleteYay Yee mai fan (sotong beehoon), Siew hai (fried crab), fish head noodle, dim sum, and banana leaf! All must eat must try. Seremban is full of good food!
ThAt satay shop is the worst ever. Once when we ordered for 15 people, and they didn't have enough sauce, they served us watered down stuff. They didn't have the professinalism or honestly to say they had run out. Still charge us that fantastic amount
ReplyDeleteMy first and last visit.
