Other than the Festive Menus, there will also be a selection of festive dim sum selection as well as luxurious Treasure Pots (aka poon choi) and a line-up of Yee Sang. These will be available from 2 February to 2 March 2018.
This year's Festive Menu focuses on the use of traditional ingredients and emphasizes on light and fresh flavours for healthy feasting. Chef Kin has created three festive menus complete with yee sang; Happiness at RM1788 nett, Fortune at RM2188 nett and Longevity at RM3388 nett per table for 10 persons.
We had the pleasure of sampling the Happiness Set, starting with the obligatory Salmon Yee Sang. Toss to prosperity and good fortune with the colorful mix of raw fish, served with crunchy vegetables, crackers and condiments. We love the appetizing and fresh flavours of the yee sang.
Next, we had the delicious Braised five treasure soup with crab meat and sliced abalone. The soup was chock-full of ingredients such as dried scallop, fresh scallop, prawn, crab meat and enoki mushrooms. Thick, flavorful and comforting.
Though the Crispy almond chicken may look like a simple dish, this traditional Chinese dish is pretty laborious as the chicken needs to undergo many different steps (deboning, blanching, mincing, deep frying). This was a treat with its crispy skin and juicy meat with toasted almonds on the underside.
Fish symbolises abundance for the new year. The live grouper is steamed with sliced ginger, chili and soy sauce - it was nice and meaty, with a hint of spiciness.
Prawns are a symbol of happiness during CNY as 'ha" in Chinese sounds like laughter. The prawns are sauteed with pumpkin cream, butter and curry leaves.
Oysters and fatt choy often make an appearance during CNY due to their auspicious sounding names which signifies "good things" and "luck come". The sun-dried oysters were braised with flower mushrooms, fatt choy and lettuce.
With plenty of wok hei, the Supreme seafood golden fried rice with XO sauce was an absolute winner. The XO sauce was a great addition, as it provided much flavour and a spicy zing to the dish. We loved it, and so did everyone else at our table, as the plate of rice was polished clean.
Other than the Happiness Festive Menu, we were also served the Prosperity Treasure Pot (RM488 for 5 persons / RM528 for takeaway). It was loaded with all the premium ingredients such as whole sun-dried scallop, sea cucumber, fish maw, stuffed dried oyster, fresh scallop, flower mushroom, fu kwei abalone, farm chicken, roasted duck, money bag, tiger prawns, fish stomach, coral clam and fungi mushroom. All the components were perfectly cooked, what a brilliant indulgence! My personal favorites were the sea cucumber, fresh scallop and abalone.
To end, we had the Double boiled sweetened chrysanthemum tea with pear, red date and aloe vera with Dynasty's fortune pastries (nian gao two ways - with coconut and deep fried) which comes with the Happiness set.
Dynasty Restaurant will also be offering 6-course and 7-course Double Delight menus for two persons at RM378 nett and RM578 nett respectively. Groups of six persons can enjoy the Six Happiness Set at RM1,188 nett. There are also 7-course and 8-course Prosperity Treasure Pot Sets for five persons.
Other than salmon yee sang, diners can also choose from other deluxe ingredients such as fruity fiesta and jellyfish as well as various premium toppings such as sea cucumber, abalone and pseudo shark's fin, abalone, jellyfish, scallop, salmon and lobster and mini abalone. Take-away yee sang in "half" and "full" serving can also be arranged for home reunion dinners and special get togethers. The Deluxe Yee Sang is priced at RM118 nett for half portion and RM228 nett for full portion, while the Premium Yee Sang is priced at RM188 nett for half portion and RM368 nett for a full portion.
