Hotel Review: The Prince Hotel & Residences Kuala Lumpur

A weekend staycation in the city is perfect for families or couples who want to have a relaxing, fun time away from home without having to travel far (and be stuck in the jam). Recently, we were at the Prince Hotel & Residences KL for a 3D/2N stay, exploring the hotel both as a family as well as a couple-only weekend staycation.

Prince Hotel & Residence KL is a luxurious international 5-star hotel and residence located in the heart of KL, within walking distance to shopping malls, dining and entertainment outlets. The 29-storey hotel boasts a total of 445 guest room, with 9 different room types such as Deluxe Room, Premier Executive Room, Junior Prince Suite, Prince Suite and more. Guests staying in Premier Executive Room category and above can enjoy the Premier Executive Lounge (and other benefits) and Business Centre.  It is also located 40 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, making it an ideal hotel for travellers and business people too.

We were booked into the Grand Deluxe Room for our stay, boasting a spectacular view of the Twin Towers both from the room and bathroom. Our kids were overjoyed to be able to enjoy this view. The room is spacious, with a king-sized bed, coffee/tea making facilities, mini bar, in-room safe, writing desk and 32" LCD TV.  There is free wired broadband in the room but wifi is chargeable. The bathroom has a separate shower/bath - the bath was used a lot during our stay since the kids wanted to take long baths in there while enjoying the view of the towers. ;)

First thing Baby D did when he got to the room.. enjoy the view!

After checking-in, we went for some drinks at Mezzanine Bar & Lounge, located on Level 2. There is currently a jazz band playing here in the evenings (except Sunday).

Comfortable bed in the Grand Deluxe Room

Working desk/mini bar area

Mini bar, coffee/tea making facilities and LCD TV

Large windows in the room and bathroom means that we get to enjoy the view to its full potential.

Twin tower, twin tower :)

Our kids favorite place during their stay is the Kids Club, located on Level 10 by the pool. The Kids Club is quite well equipped, with a playhouse complete with slide, doll house, kitchen, blocks, and many more. For the older kids, there is PlayStation available as well. Everyday, there will also be educational activities for kids aged above 5, such as paper people chain making or origami. Our kids stayed here til closing time (5pm) on the first day, and the first thing they wanted to do after breakfast was come here too!

Tropical garden

The gym/fitness centre, tropical garden and swimming pools are also located on Level 10. There is also a spa on this level, The Sompotan Spa, which we enjoyed the following day. A full review of the spa can be found here.

There are 3 pools here - a kids pool (0.6m), a jacuzzi/dipping pool and a regular-sized pool. Kids enjoyed going to the kids and dipping pool- when they got home, they wouldn't stop telling their grandparents about how great the pool was!

The illuminated Petronas Twin Towers at night - we slept to this view. Gorgeous!

Sunrise from our room

The hotel has 6 restaurants/bars, and during our stay we sampled the dim sum buffet at Tai Zi Heen, Japanese food at Enju and international buffet at Eccucino (you can read my review of the Asian Food Promotion here). Buffet breakfast is also served at Eccucino, there is a pretty good selection - our picks are the roti canai, omelette, croissant, pastries and miso soup for the kids. Service at Eccucino is very good - the staff are friendly and quick in filling our tea/clearing empty plates although the restaurant was very busy.

Start your day with a (croissant) smile ;)

Western and Malaysian - omelette and roti canai in one plate.

Verdict: Child-friendly hotel, our kids love the Kids Club and swimming pool, as well as the view from the Grand Deluxe Room. Also great for a relaxation weekend for couples- enjoy a spa at The Sompotan Spa, relax by the poolside and go shopping at the nearby malls such as Pavilion KL, Fahrenheit 88 and Lot 10.

Check in time 2.00pm, check out time 12.00pm.

Room rate: RM392++ for Grand Deluxe Room (subject to changes). Children up to 5 years old get to stay for free in the room.  There is also a "Heavenly Spa Vacation" package which includes 2D/1N stay in a Grand Deluxe Room and 60-minute Signature Massage at The Sompotan Spa for 2 persons for RM720++.

  7. It is so good that reasonably priced hotels with good facilities have come up. Five star "posh" hotels used to be the only choice if you want to stay somewhere nice. They didn't even live up to their name sometimes. Very nice, spacious and airy room. Perfect for families.

  8. The gym is quite nice, Mr Mah enjoyed that a lot. But we don't like how the carpark works, you need to get the key before you enter the carpark.

  10. They have Japanese breakfast too. NICE! I always get both Western meal and Japanese/Chinese meal when they have the option. I just cannot pick one. So my tray is like Baby C's... collection of everything. :)
