2016 will herald the Year of the Monkey and to celebrate the arrival of the Chinese New Year, Hubby has been getting creative preparing some monkey "art" for around our home this festive period.
If you are observant you will remember during Dec 2015 my blog displayed a "BabySumo Santa" avatar and likewise my blog currently displays a "BabySumo Monkey" avatar for the build up and throughout Chinese New Year. The monkey head is very simple to create and will be a fun weekend activity for the kids.
Time required: 10 minutes.
Instructions:
1. Make use of the tape as a template to draw a circle for the monkey head. Cut out the circle.
2. Moving onto the lighter shade of brown paper. Once again use the tape roll as a template for the face and again for the mouth and then a 50 cents coin as a template for the ears.
3. Draw a heart shape within the round piece .
6. Double sided tape or glue can be used to assemble the Monkey Face. The mouth area is oval shaped and can be created using any circular object you have at hand, eg small plate etc.
After successfully creating this first mask hubby came up with the idea of giving the Baby Sumo avatar a CNY2016 make over hence the slightly more feminine mask was created.

A quick Google search for "monkey art and crafts" provided inspiration for BabySumoMonkeyKids, these were created by simply gluing a printed monkey face onto toilet roll inner cutting slits to take the ears and then painting the white paper face to match the brown card colour used in the adult monkeys.
