We had the Ayam penyet paha (flattened chicken thigh RM10.50) which comes with fried tofu, tempeh and fresh local vegetables (cucumber haha!). The crispy chicken has been marinated in Java spices and then deep fried. It was moist and juicy. You can eat it with one of three types of sambal (self-service) depending on the spiciness level that you like.
Opening times: 10am to 10pm daily.
Price: Total bill rm39.90 for 4 pax.
Location: Waroeng Penyet, Lot 4-08, Nu Sentral Mall, Level 4, 201 Jalan Tun Sambanthan, 50470 Kuala Lumpur.

So far, two ayam penyet restaurants I tried have been disappointing. Perhaps I should try this one.
ReplyDeleteWe have two Indonesian franchises here and lots and lots of locals selling ayam penyet, not all good and not cheap. I like the one where the rice served is wrapped with banana leaf.
