Sunday Dim Sum Buffet @ Dorsett Hartamas, KL

Sundays are best for spending quality time together with your family and friends while catching up on each other's week. Dorsett Hartamas' Sunday Dim Sum Buffet is the perfect place to be for a yum cha session, with unlimited servings of steamed and fried dumplings, hot Chinese tea and more. 

Steamed dim sum are cooked upon order, so place your order for this first upon arrival as there will be a 20-minute wait. There are nine items to choose from; our favourites were the Steamed siew mai, Steamed prawn dumplings, Glutinous rice with chicken, and Steamed squid ink bun with salted egg custard. All their dim sum is Muslim-friendly as it is made in the Halal kitchen of their sister hotel, Dorsett Grand Subang's The Emperor Chinese Restaurant. 

While waiting, help yourself to unlimited servings of fried dim sum such as beancurd roll with prawns, spring rolls, fried dumplings, fried wan tan, yam puffs and sesame ball with red bean filling from the buffet counter. There are also fried chicken, sweet and sour fish, roasted chicken, hot and sour soup, congee, stir fried radish cake, fried rice and fried noodles as well as an assortment of desserts and fresh fruits.

Fabulous Seafood Night @ Thyme, PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur

Seafood lovers: Alert! There's a new seafood buffet in town, and it's definitely one worth checking out. Last weekend, we popped over to the swanky new PARKROYAL COLLECTION Kuala Lumpur's all-day dining restaurant, Thyme, to check out their Fabulous Seafood Night. 

Happening every Friday and Saturday (from 6.30pm to 10.30pm), the seafood buffet dinner is priced at RM228 nett per person, you will find a collection of fabulous selection of seafood such as lobsters, crabs, mussels, scallops, yabbies, clams, prawns, oyster bar, freshly made sushi and seafood cooked in various styles. 

Start at the oyster bar, where you can find Irish and Fine de Claire oysters, freshly shucked upon request. 

Then, it's off to the seafood on ice counter, for the scallops, clams, lobsters, slipper lobsters, yabbies, prawns, mussels and bamboo clams. I was impressed with the staff's speed in replenishing the seafood here so it's always well stocked at all times. 

You can also select your preferred seafood (tilapia, pomfret, squid, stingray, flower crab, tiger prawns, mussels) to be cooked in your preferred sauce (Indian, Malay, Western and Chinese). Simply place the ingredients in a plate along with your table number and color tag and pass it to the servers, and they will be sent back to your table once cooked. The Chinese kam heong and Western baked with lemon butter sauce were my personal favourites. 

Fresh sashimi and sushi 

Help yourself to salmon gravlax, fresh salads from BoomGrow, baked oysters, and a variety of local and International cuisine such as seabass a la orange, lamb rogan josh, Singapore chilli crab with fried mantao, ikan asam pedas and more. There is also a baked whole salmon, served with teriyaki sauce.

For dessert, indulge in a plethora of cake and pastries such as creme brulee, carrot cake, lemon tart, and roulades as well as fresh fruits, cheese, ice cream and chocolate fountain.
