What used to be Max @ iHaus and iHaus restaurant is now Babylon Restaurant. After undergoing a slight refurbishment, the restaurant reopened recently serving both Western and Mediterranean /Arabic fare. We were glad to discover that they retained their value for money set lunch, which comprises of Western cuisine only. For RM25+, you get a complimentary ice lemon tea, a starter, and a main course. Complimentary bread is no longer served.

There is shisha available here. A large aquarium houses the fresh fish used in Maskuf, one of their signature dishes whereby the fish is sliced open butterfly style and slowly smoked.

A good deal is simply hard to resist...

For the starter, you can choose between a salad or soup. All of us had the Black Pepper Duck Breast Salad with Mesclun Greens, Olive, Cherry Tomatoes and Balsamic Dressing. Just as good as I remembered it, the salad was fresh while the duck had a nice smoky flavour to it.

There are 3 choices for the main course. One of my fellow diners went for the Pan Fried Butter Fish with Spaghetti in Tomato Coulis. The pasta was good, but the butter fish was a bit tough in texture.

The rest of us ordered the Char Broiled Chicken Breast Fillet with Mushroom Melange and Sauteed Potatoes. An excellent choice as we all found the chicken to be well flavoured and moist.

There is no add-on dessert option now for their set lunch, but we decided to order off their a la carte menu. The Deep Fried Banana Fritters (RM6.90) is basically goreng pisang topped with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Quite a simple dessert, but the hot/cold combination worked wonders.

The Chilled Cream Cheese Cake (RM7.90) was served with monin strawberry syrup, macerated fruits and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. It was delicious and our favorite dessert of the lot.

I had the Bread and Butter Pudding (RM9.90) which I felt was a letdown. The bread and butter puddings I have eaten in the past have always been served warm but the version here was cold as was the accompanying custard cream.

Babylon Restaurant updates their set lunch menu daily.
The a la carte menu is available all day, with Mediterranean dishes such as tabouleh, Arabic salad, Tashreep lamb, Maskuf, kebabs, and much more. From the Western menu, you can find wild mushroom soup, chicken caesar salad, lamb shank and beef tenderloin, just to name a few.
For a limited time, there is a 5% discount on the set lunch and 20% discount on any orders off the a la carte menu.
Verdict: The set lunch continues to draw us back to this restaurant although it has undergone a change of management recently. Food is good, and very similar to the old menu as the chef from iHaus restaurant still helms the kitchen.
