*Updated with photo of the Malaysia bear.
The 143 life-sized United Buddy Bears are in KL -- a first for South East Asia. I stumbled across them when I was in Pavilion KL two days ago and what a sight!
"We have to get to know each other better... it makes us understand one another better, trust each other more and live together more peacefully."
Under this motto, United Buddy Bears promote living together in peace and harmony. Since the first exhibition in Berlin in 2002, more than 25 million visitors world-wide have been able to admire the United Buddy Bears. The United Buddy Bears will be exhibited at the entrance of Pavilion KL from 8 December 2011 to 15 February 2012 -- so don't miss your chance to see them in real life.

Each bear is about 2m tall, made from fibregrass sculptures originally developed in Berlin, Germany.

Artists from individual countries are chosen to handpaint the bears and is sorted by alphabetical order. We tried looking for the Scottish bear in his kilt -- but unfortunately there wasn't one, just the United Kingdom bear.
The Buddy Bears stand together “hand in hand”, symbolising the future vision of a peaceful world. Each bear stands for the people of the different countries and their culture, yet not for political systems.
When we were there, the Malaysian bear wasn't unveiled yet but has been since then during the official launch. You will see it when you visit Pavilion KL now.
Here's a photo of the Malaysia bear that I took when we visited Pavilion yesterday. It's his first time on the world tour.. so he's a little shy. Say hello to him! :)
