Ayam Penyet BEST @ Quill City Mall, KL

Last weekend, we took our kids to Quill City Mall, located opposite Sheraton Imperial Hotel KL. The mall is pretty nice, not too crowded and there are a good mix of shops. Lunch time came and we decided to try Ayam Penyet BEST located on the 4th Floor.

The restaurant serves Indonesian cuisine, namely from Jawa. Their signature dish is the "ayam penyet" and other penyet dishes such as udang penyet, empal penyet, lele penyet and bakso penyet. According to their menu, their signature penyet dishes uses fresh ingredients and are marinated with spices such as turmeric, cumin, candlenut, onions, coriander and more. After it has been deep fried, it will be smashed (aka "dipenyetkan") and served.

The kids said that they wanted to try the nasi lemak penyet (RM8.40), so we ordered that. The rice is pretty fragrant and not too rich, and the accompanying ayam penyet (chicken) was crispy and well-flavored. The sambal had a real spicy kick to it, overall a very nice dish which we enjoyed.

Sharing is caring ;)

Hubby had the sup rawon (RM5.30), a traditional Indonesian spiced beef soup which he used to eat often when he was working in Indonesia. He ordered an extra plate of white rice and added it to the soup. Comfort food!
