Year of the Rat Yee Sang

Toss to good fortune with Chynna’s signature Yee Sang for 2020, the Smoky Chicken with Rice Krispies Yee Sang - a delicious combination of sweet and savory flavours (*cute Year of the Rat plating available upon request).

Other highlights from the Yee Sang menu include the Strawberry and Macadamia Nuts Yee Sang, Crispy Fish Skin and Salted Egg Yolk Soft Shell Crab Yee Sang, Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang with Passion fruit Sauce and Traditional Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang. Price starts from RM128 for half portion and RM238 for full portion.

During the media preview, we sampled dishes from the Prosperity Set Menu. To start, we had the appetizing Braised tomato puree soup with seafood, vegetarian fins, and crushed almond - smooth and velvety in a beautiful (and prosperous) hue of red.

Serving a whole chicken during Lunar New Year will bring prosperity, joy, and togetherness to the family. We thoroughly enjoyed the Eight treasure salt baked chicken Chef Lam style, using kampung chicken and served with a ginger-spring onion condiment.

Fish is a must-have during Chinese New Year as 魚 (yú), meaning "fish", shares the same homonym as the word 餘, which means "surplus" or abundance for the New Year. This year, Chef Lam features the moontail grouper, steamed in a tangy green lime and garlic chilli sauce.

The next dish, Sliced abalone with sea cucumber, dried oyster, sea moss, and Chinese cabbage is brimming with auspicious ingredients. Abalone represents definite good fortune, sea cucumber means happiness, dried oyster is for good thing in the coming year, sea moss is for good wealth, and Chinese cabbage represents 100 types of prosperity and luck. More for me please!

Fragrant and finger licking good, the Stir fried prawns with kam heong pepper sauce will have you laughing all the way to a fantastic 2020!

For a sweet ending to our meal, we were served the Double boiled almond cream with gum tragacanth (also known as peach gum) and premium Musang king dessert. Absolutely luscious!
