Taste of Gold Afternoon Tea & Gold Rejuvenating Facial @ Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara

This July, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara present The Craftsmanship of Gold, a specially curated program of arts, gastronomy, and wellness expressed through gold. Gold has always been associated with the power, beauty and cultural elite since the history of ancient civilization. Its brilliance and permanence that neither corrode nor tarnish for eternity continue to appeal to humans for many centuries and millenniums.

As part of this initiative, in partnership with Aureo Gallery, Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara will be showcasing the world's only gold paintings by renowned contemporary South Korean artist, Kim Il Tae in the hotel's sprawling lobby between 2 July 2019 and 1 September 2019. He is widely recognized as a pioneer artist who developed a distinct method to paint with pure 24k gold and oil on canvas. Kim Il Tae’s artworks today have been met with worldwide critical acclaim. Amongst the prestigious collectors of his artworks are Prince Michael of Kent of the British Royal Family, PSY (Korean celebrity), Zhou Xun (Chinese artist) to name a few.

Sip on tea and enjoy the exclusive Taste of Gold Afternoon Tea, by pastry guest chef Guillaume Destouches from Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche. As its name suggest, the Taste of Gold Afternoon Tea gives you a taste of French treats dressed with gold effects to complement Kim Il Tae’s masterpieces. The Taste of Gold Afternoon Tea is available daily from 15 July to 14 August 2019 at Le Bar Cocktail & Stories from 3pm to 5pm, priced at RM128 for two persons.

We had the pleasure of sampling the Taste of Gold Afternoon Tea, which came beautifully presented in an elegant three-tier stand. This includes Chef Guillaume's specialty, the Hazelnut with milk chocolate cube, with a hazelnut cream with chocolate almond coating as well as the Pistachio and raspberry charlotte (my personal favourite!). In keeping with the gold theme is the Chocolate eclair with a cookie topping, dipped in dark chocolate and sprayed with edible gold. The set also comes with fruit tartlet, red velvet club sandwich, avocado sandwich, smoked salmon croissant, raspberry and hazelnut macarons as well as a pot of TWG tea for two.

Gold has been touted for its wrinkle-fighting and radiance-boosting properties for centuries. Guests can now book the Glow like Gold with the Gold Rejuvenating Facial at the award-winning So SPA. Pure luxury that instantly rejuvenates and tighten the skin, giving it the perfect tone and texture, the 60-minutes facial treatment uses natural ingredients such as pure honey, cucumber as well as a gold mask, combined with French technique. The facial also helps to smooth and plump the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making the skin look smoother, feel radiant and glowingly alive. The luxurious gold mask pampers skin of all types for the lift needed to look extra radiant and refreshed. The Glow like Gold with the Gold Rejuvenating Facial is available daily from 2 July 2019 until 1 September 2019, priced at RM360.

Some of the highlights of this Gold Facial Treatment include an enzyme and bamboo powder scrub, followed by the application of a cooling cucumber pouch to help tighten the pores. Then, my beautician, Erna uses the ridoki massage tool all over my face - this helps to reduce wrinkles, followed by the tiger's eye face roller which relaxes the skin. Finally, a luxurious gold mask is applied to my face and while waiting for it to work its magic, I also get an upper body massage... so relaxing! One of the best facial treatments I've had... definitely felt pampered and I walked out feeling wonderfully radiant.
