Charlie's Cafe, Taman Bukit Desa, KL

On our way to Bangsar to run some errands, we stopped by Charlie's Cafe in Taman Bukit Desa for lunch. We come to this area pretty often, but 99% of the time we would be eating here. So this is actually our first time at Charlie's Cafe despite driving past it hundreds of times.

Upon arrival, walk up the counter, check out the menu, place your order and pay. You will be given a number and asked to help yourself to cutlery. Yeah, it's pretty much self-service except that they do serve the food to your table once it's ready.

The specialty here is the Chicken Chop as well as three types of laksa. It's been a while since I had Sarawak laksa (RM13.90) so I went for that. The broth was very good. It comes with the thick meehoon, beansprouts, omelette, prawns, chicken, and coriander that comes with a traditional bowl of Sarawak laksa, plus some extras such as tofu pok and fishballs.

Hubby had the Curry Laksa Deluxe with chicken and prawn (RM15.90). The broth is made using both seafood and chicken and is spicier than the ones we usually have. What we liked most about Charlie's version was the crispy fried chicken cutlet, rather than the usual poached chicken. Not bad, though a lot more pricier than our favourite curry laksa in Cheras (RM6.50 only there :P).

Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. Would return to try their Chicken Chop next time, but perhaps in the evening as trying to get a parking here in the afternoon is an absolute nightmare.

  1. The laksa broth looks extra lemak! Don't think there is any place here where we can have it with noodles, always with bihun.
