Arteastry Hi-Tea @ Element Kuala Lumpur

The highly popular Arteastry Hi-Tea at Element Kuala Lumpur recently received a makeover and we were invited over to the hotel to experience it. The revamped Arteastry Hi Tea is available every weekend and public holidays at TRACE Restaurant & Bar, located on Level 40 of the tallest eco-friendly hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Complemented by a fantastic view of the city, this unique afternoon tea combine elements of art, tea and pastry and is perfect for a weekend tête-à-tête with your friends or loved one.

First to arrive were the Cold Savouries, such as Smoked salmon bagel, Chicken lyoner on foccaia bread, Vegetable wrap with sweet chilli drip and Vegetarian Vietnamese roll, presented on a sleek, black clay slate.

Once we were done with our first platter, we moved on to the Hot Savouries - embellished with dry-ice for a smoky effect. Here, you will find a mix of Western and Asian delights such as Beef slider or Fish slider with charcoal bun, Shepherd's pie, Black pepper chicken pie and Lemongrass spiced fish. Highly delicious - the kids especially loved the lemongrass spiced fish and fish slider.

This was followed swiftly by the homemade scones, served with whipped cream and chocolate ganache as well as fruit tartlets.

Now, for the fun part of the Arteastry experience, the presentation of "In the Forest" by one of the pastry chefs right before your eyes. Attending to us was Chef Qistina, who started by laying newspaper-like food grade paper on the table.

Sit back and watch as the chef deftly paints an edible artwork, using strokes of chocolate sauce and raspberry confit and then decorating it with macarons, jelly beans, chocolate soil, sponge squares, marshmallow, mango chutney, and fresh berries to create her artwork. Finally, a green tinted chocolate sphere is placed in the middle of the sheet, and the kids were invited to crack open the sphere using mini hammers, revealing cheesecake chunks in the centre. To end, Chef Qistina drizzles warm chocolate sauce over the chocolate ball.... and then it's time to dig in! A lovely, sweet indulgence.

Watch this short video we made about the Arteastry Hi-tea! Kindly subscribe to my channel for more videos and updates.

The Arteastry Hi Tea also comes with a pot of tea; choose from English breakfast, Chamomile, Earl Grey, or Green Tea.

Knowhere Bangsar, KL : A La Carte Menu + Cocktails

We recently checked out Knowhere's weekend brunch menu, and the food totally impressed us, so we went back again to this Bangsar restaurant to sample their a la carte menu.

Available daily after 4pm, the a la carte menu features tapas, soups, grazing platters, pasta, sliders and pizzas, all competently executed with a Malaysian twist.

Knowhere Bangsar

To start, we tried a selection of their tapas, small plates which are great for sharing. The Smoked canard and plum (RM24.80) was one of my favorites, slices of house smoked duck paired with a sweet plum and peach salsa, mango sauce and onion marmalade. Fantastic combination of flavours.

Wings are my ultimate favorite finger food, so if I see it on the menu, I have to order it. These Flightless wings (RM20.80) turned out to be extra yummeh - the crisp, deep fried chicken wings are tossed in a spicy, flavorsome ginger chilli dip.

For those who like spicy food, try the Devil's dry roast (RM19.80), a spicy dry chicken curry served with garlic naan as well as the Burnt butter steak (RM26.80), seared sliced flank steak drizzled with chilli burnt butter sauce (there's cili padi in there!).

I've tried many versions of pesto before, but Knowhere's version made with ulam (a Malay herb) is definitely a new one for me. The ulam is blended with kaffir lime to make a fragrant pesto, then tossed with spaghetti and served with cherry tomatoes and Parmesan crisp.

The highlight of our meal here was their thin crust pizza with unique toppings. Diners can request for the half and half pizza (RM36.80) - we had the Nang Nak Knowhere and Italian mutton kari and both were mighty tasty. My personal favourite was the rather unusual Nang Nak Knowhere; I never knew jackfruit would taste so good on a pizza! Great combination of Malaysian ingredients with Italian flavours. The kids, on the other hand, loved the Italian mutton kari - hot and addictively spicy.

Cocktails are also their forte; we highly recommend the Truffle Smoked Fashioned (RM38), featuring Naked Grouse Whisky sous vide and infused with white truffle, Lagavulin 16 years, Salted Caramel and Lemon Bitters.

I wanted something sweet and the Birds of Paradise (left, RM36) was recommended to me. Definitely my kind of drink, great tropical flavours. Made with Bols Genever,  Campari, Peach liquor, vanilla, coconut, passion fruit and citrus.

The Ronin (RM44) - Marca Negra Espadin Mezcal, Charred red pepper, agave, chilli bitters and citrus with aquafaba

Mango and Pineapple True Juice.. it's great that they serve bamboo straws here.

Hotel Review: Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur - Grand Executive Suite

Staycations in the city are getting increasingly more popular amongst Malaysian families. With staycations,  there is no hassle and stress of booking air tickets and you get to unwind without having to travel a long distance to get to your holiday destination. Less driving, more time to bond and spend time with each other... perfect!

One of the best luxury hotels you can stay at in KL is the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, with the most amazing view and unparalleled service to boot. The hotel has simply everything you need, from comfortable, luxurious and functional rooms to fantastic food and facilities.

From the moment you check in at the Sky Lobby on Level 39, strategically located on the highest level of the building, you will be greeted by a million dollar panoramic view of the city's skyline with the iconic Petronas Twin Towers as the backdrop.

This five-star luxury hotel boasts 411 spacious guestrooms including 42 suites, ideal for both business and leisure travellers. The suites are one of the largest in room size amongst five-star luxury Kuala Lumpur hotels in the heart of the city.

During our stay, we experienced the ultra spacious, luxe Grand Executive Suite (152 sq m), the epitome of opulence and elegance. Fresh orchids greeted us as we walked through the door into our suite, and we were immediately wowed by the vastness and well-appointed, stunning interior of the suite. The residentially-styled suite comes with a bedroom with a king-sized bed, marble bathroom with separate toilet, walk-in wardrobe, a spacious living area and dining area with a pantry (Nepresso coffee machine and a large fridge/freezer). The hotel also thoughtfully arranged two single rollaway beds for the kids as well as a welcome candy bar with delicious sweet treats.

The suite also comes with two large LED TVs as well as Bose sound systems and Apple TV and this kept the kids amused throughout the weekend with movies, cartoons, singing and dancing. And of course, to top it all off, the most amazing view of our beloved city.  Family life is all about creating memories and documenting them, what better way to do this than a mini photo shoot to immortalize the moment forever. The suite comes with large floor-to-ceiling windows, perfectly framing the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

Our suite also granted us access to the Grand Club Lounge, located on the 37th Floor, similarly offering fantastic views of the city. As a consideration to all guests, there is a dedicated family room, with comfortable sofas and TV. Guests can enjoy their breakfast here should they wish, and evening cocktails from 6pm to 8pm, with a selection of drinks accompanied by hot and cold canapes.

There are three outstanding dining options here at the hotel, namely THIRTY8, JP teres and Poolhouse.

THIRTY8 is the signature restaurant at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and is well-known for its legendary weekend afternoon tea and fantastic a la carte menu. Located on the second highest floor of the luxury hotel, the restaurant, bar and lounge boasts spectacular 360 degrees panoramic views of the KL city skyline, including a dramatic full frontal view of the iconic Petronas Twin Towers.

Breakfast is also served here daily, with a wide range of fresh juices, pastries, Asian delights such as dim sum and noodles, egg station (great sous vide eggs!) and our favorite, the pancakes and waffles! Can't think of a better way to start our day - stunning views and great, wholesome food!

JP teres, located on the ground floor of Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur features the best of Malaysian cuisine and highlights a variety of authentic Malay, Chinese and Indian flavours complemented by warm and friendly service. They serve a weekday lunch buffet and an a la carte menu throughout the day. Some of the highlights during our meal here is the Nasi Ayam and Curry Laksa, authentic renditions of two Malaysian favourites.

Poolhouse is a stunning glasshouse facing the hotel’s swimming pool and surrounded by tropical greenery, serving both local and international favourites.

Speaking of the pool, it was our second favourite place in the hotel after our gorgeous suite. Surrounded by lush tropical greenery, the outdoor saltwater swimming pool offers countless hours of fun for families. Children can play in the wading pool (0.45m) or in the main pool with a depth of 1.2m, and the hotel even provides complimentary kid’s amenities such as children floats, kick-board, swim noodles and life jackets. Parents can, while keeping an eye on their children, relax in one of the private cabanas or lounge chairs at the edges of the pool, while enjoying the beautiful view and sunshine.

The hotel also houses a 24-hour gym with the latest cardiovascular and strength Technogym® machines as well as Essa Spa, offering a range of luxurious spa treatments with traditional Malay preparation of ingredients.

They are many other Insta-worthy spots around the hotel too, such as the grand staircase at the ground floor lobby.

For those who would like to explore the city, the hotel is nestled in the heart of the city centre and is within walking distance to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, Suria KLCC, KLCC Park, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas as well as the Golden Triangle shopping and entertainment district. The Pavilion Shopping Centre is less than a 10-minute walk by the covered sky-bridge outside the hotel. Families can also visit Aquaria KLCC and Petrosains for a fun, educational day out.

Our family had a wonderful time here at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, with lots of fond memories and sweet moments shared between us. The Grand Executive Suite is the best option for family staycations, which we love for its spaciousness, views and amenities. Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur is now officially (in BabySumoKids words), "the best, and current favorite hotel in KL".

Thank you Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur for the amazing stay!
